ground builds.. what do you use?

I never really give much thought to it, really.
my teams almost always use Dyson or CC armor and shields, i try to grind out an Omega set for Defera. and try to grind out the Solenae ev suit just because of the looks. I usually have 3 auto rifles of each flavor for endeavors, although I always have the tommy gun, boolean cannon and working on the portable phaser cannon. (Really hoping for a plasma cannon soon) for AP advanced iconian staffs instead of AP rifles. Kit modules I was slotting a solar gateway, either a micro photon or cryonic torpedo EP drone, then the other slots from the branch. some have the agonizer field but I find it and the gateway are very situational.

As a base set I'm using Burnham's CQC Armor / EV suit from the Discovery reputation along with the Na'kuhl Temporal Operative story reward PSG and secondary weapon for the 2 piece bonus and the PSG's 'time slip' which is a nice immunity. Am finding this combination hard to beat.

For a primary weapon current favorites are a crafted split beam, Lobi Phaser Full Auto Rifle (Dsc), or Plasma Wide Beam Rifle. Most toons also have a Gambling Device which can also be purchased off the Exchange. Other device slots have a favorite pet, large hypos, and a big stack of crafted Large Kit Overboosters.

I still carry some of the older Omega reputation ground sets but these days it seems when fighting the Borg that the above 3 piece base set with a TR-116B Rifle or Replica Thompson Submachine Gun might be more effective.

Here are some kit modules I use -

Science - Paradox Bomb (Temporal Operative Reputation) + Cold Fusion Flash (exchange) are a nice combo. I fill in with Endo/Exothermic Induction Field, Hyperonic Radiation (both with a Geologist active duty doff), Electro-Gravitic Field (with a different Geologist doff for chance to create a Phasic Instability), as well as a heal... usually Nanite Health Monitor but Medical Tricorder / Vascular Regenerator work also. Still wouldn't rule out Hypospray Melorazine & Hypospray Dylovene for an old school tanky science melee build for those into that.

Engineer - some favorites are Chroniton Mine Barrier, Quantum Mortar, Anchor of Gre'thr (Winter Event store), Crystal Prism, Ambush Turret Fabrication, and the Solar Gateway (not versus Tholians or in Binary Circuit). Also Transphasic Bomb and Seeker (or other) Drone(s). Engineering standbys for Colony Simulations - Nanite Medical Generator + Photonic Barrier Generator.

Tactical - seems this is all about buffing damage / attacks and team mates all the time - I use Ambush, Motivation, Trajectory Bending, Agony Field Generator (buffed with Ambush) and Mudd's Time Device. Others - Battle Strategies (craftable), Rally Cry. Graviton Spike from Summer Event store is very nice and have this on a few toons. Also have Return Fire (from Command Reputation) on one toon for cool downs.

The ground skill tree I use is here regardless of profession.

Here is a link to a very cool tactical ground build and some other stuff.

If looking for ideas for an away team try a few of these bridge officer abilities - https://reddit.com/r/stobuilds/wiki/tspbasicboffguide

Would add that an away team member with Paradox Bomb is good fun.

Another nice perk if you have the Reputation Marks..

The Omega Ground set 3 pc bonus " Team Ambush Field" works on Bridge officers and it stacks. So 2.5% Crit Chance and Severity for each officer wearing it. So does "Concerted Resilience" from the Gamma ground set. I usually run 3 Bridge officers with 3pc Omega and one with 3pc Gamma.

Downside, it's expensive. 3 full sets of Omega takes 45 Borg Neural Processors.. so enjoy running ISA for a while.
    Insert witty signature line here.

This science ground setup is working well for the The Borg Resurgence ground queue but should be pretty good all around. If playing on advanced or for the extra kit module added with Elite Captain Training would probably add a heal such as Nanite Health Monitor.

    Udhcopt.jpg

Left to Right Kit Modules - Anti-Time Entanglement Field, Paradox Bomb, Exothermic Induction Field, Cold Fusion Flash, Electro Gravitic Field.

Na'kuhl Temporal Operative personal shield generator + secondary weapon, and Replica Thompson Submachine Gun (or TR-116B Sniper Rifle) with Burnham's CQC Armor / EV Suit

    Gambling Device
    Large Kit Overbooster
    Immunosupport Nanite Injector
    Large Hypo

Here's some ideas for an Engineer that seem to work nicely together.

    oJ4ABXq.jpg

Ground gear is the same as above but using a Phaser Full Auto Rifle (Dsc) this time as well as a combat pet.

Kit Modules from left to right - Solar Gateway, (don't use versus Tholians, in Binary Circuit, or versus Leeta in Assault on Terok Nor), Ambush Turret Fabrication, Chroniton Mine Barrier, Chain Conduit Capacitor, and Anchor of Gre'thor (from Winter Event Store).

    KDF Tactical.

I use fleet armour with kperf and readiness.

Nakuhl shield and weapon (for the 2 piece)

Mining laser from I forget which mission.

I use one of the borg construct kits.

Only modules I got through missions except for micro photon torp from the Terran rep and the covert drone.

Fairly solid though I can't use the secondary on the mining laser as my modules are on auto (console version) and I have too much uptime on my modules to get to use it. PC that won't be an issue.

The most important thing to remember is synergy.
Make sure that 1+1=3 applies to your kit modules and remember that not all kit modules work equally against different opponents.

One clear example is the solar gateway (or other radiation based kit modules) which heal tholians.

The nah'kuhl 2-piece is a golden oldie, but the effect can be achieved through various means.
E.g. use the https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Furtive_Perseverance#Romulan_Operative_Personal_Shield with a cannibal tribble and any career can cloak.

Look at options off the beaten path. If you want to fight borg then you can use the Tommy Gun or Shotgun or TR-116.
However, did you know that the borg do not adapt to this weapon?
    https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Excessive_Development#Kentari_Fortified_Combat_Armor
Simply because it is not direct, but indirect damage?

Try different combinations like deploying a minefield and then using his:
    https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Ability:_Site-to-Site_Ensnare

    Combine!
On an engineer i usually OHKO elite drones of Defera using ambush tactics with https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Ability:_Sonic_Suppression_Field

I realize that these answers are not clear cut, but they open the path to more diverse and fun game play on the ground.

Edit: One last thing. Find a combination which has a good synergy with your play style.
While e.g. a ninja/ambush style may work for me, this does not mean it works for you.

For the same reason why some prefer shotguns, some staffs, some melee etc. Look over the various kit modules and gear options and pick which works for you.

This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Except for the Borg and their annoying Adapting to different flavors of weapons just about anything Mk14 or 15 works fine.
Split Beams are my go-to, generally. My Boffs just use old Reputation Sets I got tired of using.
Like others have mentioned a physical weapon like the shotgun, tommy gun or TR116 are the best for Borg.

No offense, but if you're aware of the foe and its strengths/weaknesses then even mark X (or below) common (white) gear is sufficient.

Anything above that just makes it a bit easier.
