Small craft bridge ship selector

Hello,
When I'm on my small craft bridge, the NPC that lets me select my starship always has two options. One is always my currently selected ship, but the other always seems random. Is there a way to make sure the two options are what I want them to be? This is simply for RP reasons, as I'm running a carrier with frigates in one bay, and fighters in the other. I have the pilotable versions of my hangar pets, and I want my captain to be able to fly all the small craft in the carrier without having to go to ESD to swap between the carrier and warbird.
