weapon stats

So I guess I don't understand weapons stats like I thought.
Where do I find where weapons are modifying a characters crit severity?
I have a weapons that modifies it a percentage according to the weapons stats, but my character stats critical severity remains the same whether the weapon is equipped or not.

If I equip a weapon that says it modifies crit severity by 200%, shouldn't my characters critical severity stat reflect that number? Or do weapon stats only apply during combat when that particular weapon is in use?

Weapon modifiers only apply to that weapon, and are added after the amounts shown in the ship's display.

There are a very very few types of weapons that give crit stats inherently (not from the modifiers), such as Sensor-Linked Phasers. But these are an exception to the above rule.

So what happens is this... let's say your ship is displaying 25% crit chance and 110% crit severity, and your weapon has an additional 90% crit severity. (numbers just for the example)....

so when you fire, each weapon has a 25% chance of critting... your other weapons (assuming they have none) would have +110% severity when they crit, but the weapon with the +90, when it crits, would instead have +200% total severity.

(For ground weapons the same... except that you're only firing one weapon at a time.)

I think I see. If a weapons crit severity bonus/modifier were applied to over all character crit severity it'd probably be a really unbalanced increase to all weapons crit severity. I think I get it now?

    Thanks for the help!
