Changing BOFF outfits

carmen1983090887carmen1983090887 Member Posts: 30 Arc User
Is anyone else having trouble changing the outfits on bridge officers? It seems that almost every time I try to create a new outfit a get a error message that says "You can not change the species of the character". I am getting so annoyed I could put a hole through my wall. Is there a place where I can submit a complaint to the development team?

I thought they fixed this, but I guess not.

The work around is to move the bridge officer to your active away team before you edit the uniform. It seems to fix this problem.

While trying to play around with the fancy new Klingon outfits, I notice even this work around doesn't seem to be working for any of my older Klingon characters' BoFFs

About a 3 month or so old bug, so guess its not a priority. The workaround for me is to set the BOFF or BOFFs that u want to change in the tailor to your away team and make sure u change maps. Easiest is to click the change character button and just return to the character u were on and u will be good to go. It will not work if u dont change maps.

On a side note I have also noticed changes in the ship tailor recently in that u cant just slide the selector over things and get a preview of them. Like changing the ship material u used to be able to slide along the material selections and instantly see what the ship looks like, now u actually have to click on the material. Same goes for all the other selections in the ship tailor.

After you assign the Boff you want to edit (assuming it’s an editable one) to your away team, you MUST make a map change. For example, change all the boffs you wanna edit to your away team (ground), beam up to your ship, then beam back down... Sea Of Sorrows forgot this little tidbit part... :)

    Try it and report back...

Actor holograms like Leeta, Bashir, the TOS crew are restricted, you're not allowed to mess with them.

    Workaround:
Yea you can modify bridge officer if they moved to your active away team, then you have to logout so they shown on the login page with your Captain. Then you'll be able to modify them!

*sigh* Wish they'd get this fixed.

I could have sworn they listed this as fixed in a recent patch. Maybe I remember incorrectly.. or perhaps they broke it again. :disappointed:

I think they tried to fix it but the fix did not work. So now they have to try again.

No it's not one of the actor ones, I got this one for free from my delta recruit by completing all their objectives, if they rerun that recruitment event again I'll make both Fed and KDF ones next time.

Correct but those (and also the Hierarchy and Voth reward BOFFs) literally will not allow you into the edit screen.

They don't allow you to mess with all the settings and then throw an error when you try to finalize your choices. (Which is what happened to me with the KDF EMH)

Ah, we do get people posting here wanting to change the actor holograms too, like giving them different era uniforms.

The KDF EMH can be customized just like any other Orion boff, at least when this bug doesn't stop you.

They did announce this as fixed, BUT all they actually fixed is that I noticed the fluttering of a single boff BUT the issue of chaing the non assignked boff uniforms is still glitchy.
in fact what I noticed was, when I changed an invalid boffs uniform it actually saved on the boff before it who was assigned to an away team as if they were linked and the actual boff never existed in the first place.

In my experience, if a bug doesn't outright cripple the game, it's pretty far down on Cryptic's priority list. Take, for example, the doff UI bug. Minor, granted, but there's still no excuse for not fixing it years ago.

My KR has not been able to edit the KDF EMH boff. Even though she is on active away team.

Yea that's one you can't, as the case with some Holograms. But funny you say that, I saw a Klingon EMH (the one you shouldn't be able to change) made to appear as Cardassian, and the Uniform was changed one time in the Voth Battlezone.

Yet they wouldn't say how they did it, and I can't modify mine, so I sadly disbanded the KDF EMH, since they didn't have a Space Trait like Bashir and they didn't allow me to at least chance her Uniform...

...I'd also LOVE to change the Uniform on the Fed Julian Subatoi Bashir EMH since white uniforms for Doctor's only really applied to Discovery not TNG, DS9, or Voyager.

Maybe they did, I haven't seen it recently but also haven't tried. It's also possible the person who started thread is on Console and slightly behind us, though it be nice if they fixed it for sure!

It's only the actor-based ones like Robert Picardo's Doctor that are locked. The KDF EMH doctor is a generic orion holo and is supposed to be editable.

Oh I thought I had tried so I disbanded them, yet maybe again it's the BUG. :'(
