Big Problem: Double item. What happend? Who are the original?

husker931225husker931225 Member Posts: 13 Arc User
Hello to all.
As the title says I have a problem with the gear in my setup. After a patch, the objects I had on my active ship practically doubled and appeared also on my previous ship (in the ship selection) creating two shields, two warp cores, consoles (universal and none), weapons and device.
They are practically identical and I no longer know which is the original and which the copy.
What should I do? Can I delete the copies without seeing my stuff disappear altogether one day ?. Does anyone have the same problem as me ?. Thanks to everyone for who will answer.

That is one of the best bugs I have seen! You are lucky!

I would just keep the copy as well as whatever the original was. Weird bug though.

First relog and change maps, and see if it persists. If it does, report it as a bug. Definitely don't delete anything.

I don't know if I was lucky, I can't put those double things together because how do I put the first, the second become dark. However, it has been about 2 months (more or less) that this is the case, only on the FED. The others "are fine" the KDF has a ship in reserve but does not show this split. Thanks anyway for the answers!

I think what you are seeing is when you have the same item equipped on multiple ships. The system puts a greyed out "copy" of that item on the ship that is not active as a placeholder. That way you can see what build you have on the ships that are not your active ship. When you activate the ship with the placeholders, it will automatically move the items to that ship.

Is this only at the Ship Selector menu? Can you put both the regular one and the dark one in your inventory?

The way this game's Loadouts work is that if you transfer an item to a new ship, the ship that's not your Active one will put in a dark "duplicate" of the icon as a placeholder. It's not a real item, it's just reminding you what you had there. It will swap the item if you set this ship as your Active, or reload the loadout.

They still don't work as smoothly as I'd like, but that's where we're at right now. I'd be very surprised if you actually had a second item that you could put on your ship. If you gear up ships with different items and never share them between ships, you may not see this particular issue. Personally, once I upgrade items to a certain point that I want to keep them for sure, I use the same one on several ships by saving loadouts. It's better than buying separate copies, for sure.

I usually use the loadout when I change my ship just to be faster. The problem is that when I select a ship, active the loadout and the gear become light and load in the new ship in the other ship all remain in light. Then I tray to take off and it go to the inventory and I have a double item. If I switch with the same item in the active ship, this will not integrate with that one but they just change place (like if you switch place between 2 vulnerability locator). It happened only for that element. Other new, apperently not.

I don't know how to post a picture but I have all the item in the inventory. If I delete one, the copy (or the original?), stay in the inventory.

What ever you do, do not delete anything! IF it is a bug, and it gets a fix, if you have deleted either version, the fix 'could' delete the other. As long as you can still equip that set, it should not be a problem.

Ok, I'll maintain everything as it is. Maybe one day it will be fixed. Thanks to all for the help, really. 😊

If you switch back to the original ship those items should be not grayed out. Also for the grayed out items mouse over it. It should say that this item is equipped on another ship in small letters at the bottom of the Item.

can you get me a video of what you're seeing? part of it sounds like a duplication bug, and the other part sounds like you're potentially missing gear. not the first time i've heard of weird stuff like this.

I think I find a way. As you can see we have 2 sets of the same item, not all is doubled (like beam array) but the rest it is. https://postimg.cc/SjwWfykn

Okay, that's an awesome bug. What I would do is switch ships in Space so it auto equips what you use. Whatever is left I would just stick in your bank, for safety's sake.

I do this every time. It's the only solution otherwise I go crazy. Everything else stays in my old ship :D

Dude I wouldn't even begin to know how to reproduce this. For now I would just take it and roll. If any of the items go missing or bug out then give me a shout and i'll make a report on it.

Any items that came equipped on a zen store ship you bought (like consoles) or an event ship you won, you would be able to re-get by re-claiming the ship on your account. Same is true for items given out as account unlock event rewards. Those items in theory it would be safe to discard, since you can always get a fresh copy. (Granted, to re-claim a ship, you might have to discharge the one you have which would mean having to redo trays, traits, and equipment loadout. Assuming you are actually using the ship and didn't already discharge it.)
