Before I begin this rant, I want it made clear: I have no problem with the policy of a thirty-minute leaver's penalty for those who leave TFO missions. The problem I have is how the policy is instituted
I was in the middle of the Defense of Starbase One TFO when my PS4 completely froze. I couldn't even use the PS button to exit out of the game. I had to unplug the whole frakking thing, risking damage to my entire system.
Then, to add insult to injury, once I fix everything and get back into the game, lo and behold, I get the penalty and have to sit on my rear end like a wuss until it clears! How is it fair that people who HAVE to quit a TFO due to unavoidable system malfunction are treated the same as those who quit OF THEIR OWN FREE WILL if they are losing a match?!?!
As much as it sucks, the system has no way to tell if you simply rage quit and disconnected the internet to your console (yes some people do that) or if it was legitimate technical failure. It sucks when it happens but your case is the exception and not the rule.

Try telling that to the face of someone (like me, the O.P.) who's already completed all of the story missions excluding the still-buggy and still-unfinishable "Temporal Ambassador."

I agree with you on this.
STO feels very claustrophobic to those who seek engaging end game content. Teamed PvE is everything players like me have.
As time goes by you are likely to have multiple characters OP. The moment you encounter DCs or penalties then you can just switch chars and continue to pursue the content you like to do.

Yeah. The new patrols especially. You can still get a choice of marks, though only 30 for first run and then 15 after that. 1000 dil ore first run and 500 after that. Repeatable daily.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
