Just wanted to share an idea for updating game graphic to our times. I know you did a great job already, but I would recommend improving the player character models by increasing the number of polygons. It's a simple and effective way to update the game graphics to our times. I know you've done a great job already, but the character of the player is what we focus on the most during the game. The ships are already very well made, but the 2 straight and sharp lines where the body should be round doesn't look good. Some smoother animations also would be very welcomed. Game has huge potential and it's only and one of it's kind on the market so in theory you don't need to do anything because we have no choice xD BUT...keep in mind that we have almost 2021 and it would be very welcome to see our beloved game refreshed. I asked this a while ago. Sadly not everyone can afford good graphics. While I would want better graphics, it would be unfair for people with weaker graphics. I am with you tho
Cryptic has mentioned on thier livestreams that the lead character artist is looking to redo the humanoid body models. He just hasnt had the time for it.
I personally wonder if the graphics engine can handle it considering they lowered the amount of people per map etc due to strains from increased effects and improved visuals

Depending how they do it, it could even reduce the strain by using more efficient models, however the thing is that it actually isn't as easy fix as some people might think as you can't just add higher polygon model expect thing to work the same and with game that has as low a player count as STO intentionally reducing that player count is not really an option.
I'm pretty sure they are working in an upgrade of the engine to DX12, that will help a lot with resources and even better lighting.. but we shall see..
