I'd like to see the following change made the the Days of Doom TFO.
Make it so that, if the player carrying the dreadnought warp core is close enough to the Doomsday Machine's path when they drop it, the core is automatically placed in the Machine's path.
This would remove the need for a level of precision that some ships are incapable of along with the frustrating scramble to get the positioning of the core just right so that the machine actually eats it instead of just pushing it out of the way.
Today I grabbed that dread core in my Caitian Shikaris Escort and with evasive maneuvers and the Competitive Impulse Engine I just sped to the Doomsday Machine and dropped that core right in front of it's mouth. It was a thing of beauty. Only time I've ever seen a pug run of that TFO not look like a three stooges episode.
I don't know that I would say automatically drop it, but definitely make it so it places automatically in the right spot if you drop it in front of the Doomsday Machine. Still have the manual release, but with an automatic placement. And for the love of things holy let us heal the starbase even if it's at a 50% reduced rate on our powers. They beam repair teams and damage control teams all the time in Trek. This should be no different.
"Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives. I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey and reminds us to cherish every moment, because it will never come again." - Jean Luc Picard in Star Trek Generations

That is the quote from DS9 that comes to mind when I’m trying to think how this map could be changed for the better.
Not that I’m not appreciating that you do too OP.
