So the summer event just finished with the usual maintenance and with it have come feelings of genuine sadness.
It's been such a godawful year for pretty much everyone, and some more than others. I really needed Risa, and I really enjoyed it. I met some really great fellow players for the first time and we talked Trek, challenged each other to race ever faster, bemoaned the rubberbanding, and generally had a good time.
In one way, I'm glad it's over because I do think events should be finite, and tbh it really feels autumnal here now. But I am so sad that STO does not have anything comparable to the ground-based events on Risa anywhere else in the game. I can't see myself being in a team of four pals again until next summer and that is such a shame.
I really wish the game had a cross-faction ground zone that had activities in it all the time, possibly by way of a queue system that a team or individuals could join. No rewards, just a place to hang out, but with different gameplay to the usual combat. I would carry powerboard and floater over because they feel fantastic to use, but with more and different courses to Risa.
For me this is a big missing element in an online game with social zones. What do you think?
