I think that it would be a good idea to add the assimilated plasma weaponry to Borg ships, as after all the visuals were made to look like Borg weaponry and the Borg do use assimilated weaponry. It could replace the current weaponry or be added to it, as at all difficulties the Borg could do with a bit of a buff in my opinion. Also a crushing beam might be cool, like we see in the battle of Wolf 359 (the blue beam that grabs the Melbourne). Just my thoughts though.
I hate to say it but the devs have been so lazy lately it isn't funny...even before the virus it seems like all we get are mostly recycled events and gamble box ships...the devs used to update a foes weapons when they added new themed weapons into the game.

In general, I think the borg need to have a major rework in terms of damage, tankiness, abilities, AI tactics. A player flying an escort should not be able to solo a Tactical Cube on advanced difficulty.
In addition to the suggestions of the OP, I think a huge boost to the Borg ship's regeneration is in order. Perhaps a better version of "Repair mode" so that when the borg ship reaches 25% hull, they are disabled for several seconds during which time it gains a huge boost to all resistance and heals for say 10% hull per second.
Also, the plasma bolts and lance in Hive Onslaught need a huge damage increase for advanced difficulty, and the repair probes need to pump out way more healing to the Unimatrices.
I love the borg as a villain, but in their current state, they are just sad.

You can make them harder, but the root of this problem is in the power creep...and the devs have proven they're never gonna fix that and only egg it on more because power creep sells. Nothing can be done there, they need the game to be accessible to the more casual players and there are the players that love blowing up almost anything in a few seconds.

An entirely reasonable request.
