An associate of mine wanted me to post this up for someone to read and comment on - he's interested in your thoughts on revamp/additions to the ship system ingame:
Kaznyradi@Nakai_03: okay, so.... we have a limited ability right now to customize our ships..... expand that
Kaznyradi@Nakai_03: have a new ability in the game that allows players to start by picking an Era. They get a basic ship design, stripped down to just basics of that era
Kaznyradi@Nakai_03: over time and play, missions and even tie ins with the Episodes, maybe even have a new Episode centereed around one of the stations like Utopia Planitia
Kaznyradi@Nakai_03: as you advance, you are able to get more parts from that era, upgrade your ship, new basic designs, and eventually, ability to advance to different eras
Kaznyradi@Nakai_03: this would give players a much better customization experience and give a completely different dimension to the game
Kaznyradi@Nakai_03: [with plenty of room for] a monitary tie in, there could be designs, parts, paints, materials, that could only be purchased, or only on the .... the..... oh krap, the crystal thingy [Lobi]
Please feel free to feed back on this idea - like it, hate it, love it.
Another big problem is that ship sales are the main source of money for Cryptic. If you can make your own versions of any ship, you no longer need to spend zen to buy new ones.
They'd have to charge a lot for many of the parts, like $20 for just nacelles.
