Cannot change ship

I'm playing STO Online for the XBox One and I've just bought my Commander level ship the Akira Class heavy Escort but I cannot see it nor can I select it. I've looked online and apparently I just go to the "Manage ships" person and then I can select it but it's not there. I go back to the ship requisition lady and it's asking for 5000 dilithium to get the same ship with no option to buy it again. Is anyone having this issue or just me? I'm apologising in advance if this is an obvious fix and I'm overlooking it but I cannot see this newly selected ship for anything. Thanks.
