Forum Notifications Question

felderburgfelderburg Member Posts: 853 Arc User
Currently, I get notified *every* time someone posts in a thread I'm following. Is there a way to only get one notification per thread? I can't seem to find the setting that changes this.

Click on the gear on the top and then click on Preferences. Also, you can decide to bookmark a thread or not.

Right, but none of those options seem to do what I want. For example, "Notify me when people comment on discussions I've participated in." What I would want that to do is notify me one time when a conversation has a comment. But I'm getting loads of notifications.

Is it bookmarking that's the problem? Because if that's the case, I would have to "participate" in a thread, instead of bookmarking something I'm interested in?

The problem is that the notifications are generated separately, and vanilla isn't smart enough to combine unread notifications from the same thread.

Just turn them off. That's what I did, I only get notified when someone mentions, or quotes me. Or if it's in reply to a thread I started.

Ok, but then, take this thread. I would have 4 notifications for one thread with that setting. I should only have 1.

The forum software is not capable of what you want.

It's either all the notifications.. or none.

    Sorry. :disappointed:

Yeah, I was afraid of that... I was just hoping that somehow, these forums had the (y'know, *basic*) functionality that other forums do, and I had missed it.
