Do we really need this artificial scarcity Cryptic?

I'm sure this will probably get deleted but I don't write this post to be malicious or anything, It's a serious question. I mean it is the games 10th anniversary and you make this awesome pack which includes 2 ships I have dreamt of for years. I want to buy it but I just don't have the money to buy it and I doubt I'll be able to scrounge up the money in just a few weeks.

It just feels a little low that you do this then just leave it listed for a few weeks and it's bye bye...

You have done more than most MMOs out there to make sure things don't completely favor the people who just open their wallets...despite the guff some people may give, I can't think of another MMO that I've played that allows you to earn game store currency just from playing...and if they do it's only special events.

This is the 10th anniversary but we only have a few weeks till the pack expires? Just seems a little rigid...why not longer, why not the year? Just cut the sale reduction...either way if someone opens their wallet or takes the massive amounts of time to save up millions of Dilithium to purchase the pack I would see that as a win.

Where as a few weeks, sure you'll convince some people to hastily open their wallet...but you'll also upset many players to the point some may even quit.

Just seems to me keeping it around for a while would be more prudent than playing the artificial scarcity game...

They want to test the waters regarding account wide promo-ship unlocks for 300$. Some have it, some think they can get like ten full games for that kind of money. But I don't think it's intented to break the bundle, but it will probably return.

I understand they are looking at how it goes since lock boxes are destined to go the way of the dodo as more countries make them illegal, but like SWTOR they tested the waters but then ended up leaving both in the game...you could buy your loot boxes and take your chances or you could get your entire set at a premium price. I'm not asking for them to split up to individual ships or anything, just think the pack should stick around for more than just a few weeks...the ups I imagine would outweigh the downs.

I just hope maybe they will reconsider.

This is like asking why events don't last forever so you have years to complete them.

Human nature is to put off doing things if there is no deadline. Cryptic wants you to open your wallet this month, not sometime in the distant future when you get around to it.

On the bright side, the money from the time-limited bundle will pay for servers, salaries, and bringing in Star Trek voice actors.

And on the other bright side, just like with R&D promo packs this bundle will most likely return in the future.
