Drones are usable by 'Any Dreadnought Warbird or Kelvin Timeline T'Laru Intel Carrier Warbird' which limits them to the Scimitar Line as well as the T'Laru.
The Valkis is not a 'Dreadnought Warbird' it's a 'Temporal Dreadnought Warbird.' I know it sounds the same but it's not, to the best of my knowledge there is not, nor has there ever been any plan to enable Drones for the Valkis.
Seems like at one point it was the only dreadnaught that couldn't. They fix this yet?
When it comes to limitations, you literally have to observe the exact naming convention. Just because it has 'Dreadnaught' in it's classification doesn't mean it will be allowed to have them.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
The shape of the t'laru lends itself very nicely to the 4/2 layout, same as for the jem carrier. Shame the drones don't seem to launch from the maw and prefer to nuzzle its backside when trying to dock.
Dreadnought is one of those glitter terms that cryptic use to make something sound fancy without really bringing much to the table or when a ship is very much outside the standard sci, cruiser or escort umbrella's.
Now that 'Flight Deck Carriers' get 8 hard points as well as 2 hangars, ships like the T'Laru are a bit outdated. It used to be an exceptional carrier, but now that cheaper ships have received a buff.. it kind of leaves a ship like the T'Laru in the cold.
It's still a cool looking ship and it's the only ship that can use 2 hangars of Romulan Drones, but being down 2 hard points is quite a price to pay.
