Our own Legacy ships

genace87genace87 Member Posts: 7 Arc User
So I have notice that when getting a new ship despite making the reqistry the same number with the 3rd slot with letter, just like the Enterprise. We cannot name our ships the same name as a previous one. To do so we have to change the name of the previous ship. I think this must change for a number of reasons 1: it is time and energy credits consuming to have to chacha the name of the previous ship. 2: to create our own legacy ship name. I don't know about the rest of you but I choose the name of my ship carefully. The name has meaning and I like to go back and use those ships to replay missions with my new mk x equipment. And to test my skills to see if I can survive with a previous ship. 3: a hall of fame feel. Going to look at our ships in the our selection of ships and seeing them as what they are. If we have to change the name of ship and look back, it has a different name than it had we captain it, doesn't quite stir memories cause the name means everything. If you agree click on yes if no on no.

It's not something I care about. I could always un-slot a few weapons if I wanted more of a challenge, or switch the difficulty to advanced or elite for story missions.

It's needed even less now that T6 ships will (eventually) all level up with you.

I get by this restriction by naming my ships with "name of ship"-"letter that I chose"

For example I have ships with the names Eternal and Eternal-X

That usually works unless you go over the letter limit in the name.

If you run out of letters you can always switch to numbers
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

it's not that big a deal to me. if I have to change the original Rumpleteaser to Rumpleteaser1, so be it.

As with Enterprise A, B, C, D, and E, I don't see what the problem with appending a letter to the newest ship is.

As a practical matter, not only does it address whatever nostalgia you might have for the old ship, but it also creates the progression into the future that the canon naming convention provides.

Whilst it would be nice, I believe it's a database limitation that is the issue, so I doubt they could arrange for this without significant reprogramming.

I've had multiple ships with the same name before (admittedly through a bug) and the game has quite happily continued on without complaint, so it can apparently already handle name duplicates just fine.

It probably wouldn't take anywhere near as much work as some other requests.

besides, it costs to change the name, and every little bit makes the Ferengi more latinum

Why complain about spending ec if you have the ec change the name if you don’t then leave as it is

3,000 EC is hardly a cost worth mentioning.

I use the same names for all my ships already. For example: All my Romulan ships regardless of their origin use some variation of the name "Raptor Star." All my Federation ships either use some form of "Vestige of Dawn," or "Star of Eden." And all of my KDF ships use either "Mesaka," or "Blood of Kronos." This holds true for every character in each faction. I just get creative with spellings, periods, quotations, roman numerals (Romulan ships) or letters of the alphabet.

Doing this also helps my friends find me easier as they all know the names I use.

So in short, ship legacy names would be a nice addition however because I've no problem using the same ship names as things are, and like someone else pointed out, now we have the new leveling ships it will cut down on my Ship Name creativity a lil but I can live with that no worries. :)

I pretty much rename all my ships when I get a new one.

If you're RPing that you're commanding the newest ship of a legacy line, that usually means the old one either blew up or was decommissioned. So you wouldn't need to have the older ones in your roster anyways.

I support the idea. Having to make the T6 version of the Akagi the "Akagi II" was and still is annoying to me.
