Just a Question about T6 Jem'Hadar ship skins.

trekkiejedigirl#9564 trekkiejedigirl Member Posts: 163 Arc User
I mostly play Romulans however this shouldn't matter to my questions answer. I have the T6 Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier from the Infinity lockbox T6 ship thingy on one of my Federation Allied Romulans, and I have another one (same ship - T6 Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier) on one of my KDF allied Romulans. In addition I have also purchased the big Gamma Vanguard Pack which contains the T5U version of this same ship (a long with many other ships I like as well)

The T6 version of the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier is my favorite ship in the game and in addition, it is the one that looks the closest to the big Jem'Hadar carriers featured on 'Star Trek: Deep Space 9.' during the dominion war.

The above being said, my question is: Why am I able to use the T5U skin of this ship (2 versions of it I might add) on my T6 version of this ship, But I can't use my T6 skin of this same ship on my T5U versions?

I have both the T6, and T5U versions of the Odyessy class and it's skins are all interchangeable (Love these ships too by the way). So why not on my Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carriers, my Favorite ship in the game?

I noticed also here on the Forum in other threads where I've casually mentioned this fact ppl seemed surprised. I've spent a lot, and I mean, a lot of money over the years on keys opening litterally 1000's of Infinity and Jem'Hadar lockboxes over the years just to have this ship I love the looks of sooooo much on both major factions. I am also a lifetime subscriber.

Don';t get me wrong here I love this game and y'all, all of you that are involved in the creation of, and development of Star Trek Online have created something very special here. I just would like to know why I can't have the look of my favorite ship on my T5U versions of it when on other T5U ships I own that do have T6 versions I can share their skins between them.

I thank you for your time, your answer/reply, and for your involvement in the creation of/maintaning of, etc., etc., of something very special to me (I've been watching Star Trek in one form or another since I was a lil girl). :)

I hope that is better. I don't really know how else to phrase it.

lockbox ships dont act the same as zen ships, the t5u is still technically a lockbox ship, thats just a giveaway in the pack. same with the bug ships, the t5 cant use the t6. they are technically different ships too. the t5u is a carrier and the t6 is a command carrier is it not? if you have the t6 why are you worried about using the t5u at all anyway?

Because I have way more than two characters and I soooooo much love the look of the T6 vs. the T5U. The latter still looks awesome mind you but That look of the T6 is basically what this thread is about,...for me anyway.

Yeah, sounds like just using the T6 will fix your issue.

Then use the T6 on your other characters, too?

    How?

Is it possible to claim this T6 version on my other characters? If so ya, I'll gladly do that. However despite my years of playing if this is indeed possible I don't yet know how to claim it on other characters.

I'm on disability. So the thought of having to buy multitudes of keys to open multitudes of Infinity lockboxes on each one of my 30+ characters to get the look of one ship is frightening to say the least. So if claiming it, since I do technically already own it if possible would be the only way I could do as you suggest. Claiming my T5U's is no problem I know how to do that. And as I'm somewhat of a ship collector, I own a lot of ships from the Zen store and I know how to claim those. I just don't know how to claim a ship I got from a lockbox on other characters without spending a ton of $$'s I just don't have.

Yes, once you buy any ship from the C-Store, it unlocks for all your other characters. Just go to the store and claim the ship on any other character after buying.

Now the Jem Dread from the pack will need your Jem to take it to lvl 6 before any non-Jem can claim it and fly it.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

There seems to be some confusion there.. which is understandable considering the number of Jem'Hadar ships and the subtle difference in the naming.

The OP is referring to the T6 Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier which is a lockbox ship. This ship, unfortunately, can only be used by the one character that has opened the pack. This includes visual skins and anything else that might come with it like special weapon unlocks, carrier pets, etc. Lockbox ships are all per character and cannot be claimed by other characters.

I believe that there was confusion with the Jem'Hadar Vanguard Carrier which is a C-Store ship. This ship can be initially claimed by any Jem'Hadar character on your account. Once the ship has been mastered through the T6 unlock then it unlocks for any character on the account and can be used by anyone of any faction.

There are two different ships that are getting confused. Unfortunately OP, the ship you like is completely character bound and there is sadly no way around it. You can't share anything, even cosmetics with your other characters.

    Sorry. :disappointed:

Ah, my bad. Sorry about that. Apologies. Guess I was confused too.

Ya, in my Original post I stated I also own the Vanguard pack as well which is where my T5U versions of the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier comes from. However, I can't even use the T6 skin on my T5U versions of this ship ON the characters that DO own the T6 version. Why is that?

the devs would have to rebuild the T5U version to add that and haven't done that yet.

I have never tried to use a T6 skin on a T5 ship, is that even normally possible?

It works with both my Odyessy's and Scimitar variants from the Zen store. I own all 6 of each half of which are T5U's.

All of my Romulan Ships use some variant of the name 'Raptor Star.' If you see one of them in game you will notice this from just seeing the ship. My Fed ships use 'Vestige of Dawn,' or 'Star of Eden," same with them.

Because there is no point using the T5 version if you have the T6.

I'm sorry. I should have stated more clearly that this thread is about cosmetics, namely the look of the T6 version of the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier and why I can't use that skin on my T5U versions of the ship, which all 30+ of my characters regardless of faction can claim. Yes, I own the Vanguard ships too which are T6. But this thread isn't about them. It is about the look of the T6 version of the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier and why I can't seem to use that skin on my T5U versions of the ship, but I CAN use the T5U look on my T6 versions.

Oh, I only own the T6 version of this ship on two characters. One is a KDF Allied Romulan, the other is a Federation allied Romulan (yes, I favor Romulans, lol).

I hope this explanation clears up any confusion. :)

In this case, it's because the ship is only owned on those two characters. Since it's not an account-wide ship, the cosmetics aren't account-wide either. They're only available on the characters that actually have the ship.

Actually, your half right. As I stated above even my two characters that DO own the T6 version cannot use it's skin on the T5U versions, But, I can use the T5U versions cosmetics on my T6 versions. So it seems to me anyways that since I love this ship sooooo much as I continue to get extra money I'll continue to buy keys and open Infinity Lockboxes at least on the characters I have I play mostly. For example, my main, Mhoki still doesn't have it nor do a few other characters I favor playing.

As you can prolly see, this would just be so much simpler if I couild use the skin on my T5U's because for this situation it really is mainly about the look of the ship, for me anyways.

There is no confusion. You can't use the T6 skin on the T5 because a) if you have the T6 on a toon you might as well use it rather than the inferior version and b) if you don't have the T6 on a toon you obviously can't use the skin at all.

Having to continue buying keys and opening only Infinity boxes because I love the look of this ship soooooo much also limits my exposure to other lockbox ships. Just saying.

Honestly, i think is a bug, as i used the Reliant skin on the T1 Miranda all the time, i know you can use the T6 skin on a lower level ship.

    I dunno.

While I am somewhat disappointed :( I suppose there's nothing I can do but live with it for now. With my upcoming Vacay and move to Illinois before the 1st of the year $$'s will be tight tho. Besides, I own soooooo many ships on each faction I can never slot or dry dock them all anyways, lol. And I usually buy 3 extra dry dock thingys (15 slots added) plus 3-4 extra ship slot thingys (8 slots added usually) and I still can't slot them all. Especially not on my Romulans, lol (I own nearly all of them but the pilot ships). o:)
