Recently started playing again after a few years of not. What did I miss?

I still get email notifications about STO and I decided to come back a few days before the T6 Ship Coupon event started and figured why not get myself an overly priced fakin $30 ship for free?
I stopped playing a month or so after the Terran Taskforce Rep was released, I grinded out the event and maxed it and got the full set and such, but now I see there is a 6th tier for all reps and several new playable factions and tons of new story?
What have I missed since Counterpoint? I know how in-depth STO is and I've all but forgotten how to do half the stuff I used to do.
