Competitive Reputation Speed

Can anyone tell me why the competitive reputation branch advances so much slower than all the other reputations? I started doing the competitive reputation at the same time as the other reputations and the comp branch is barely past Tier 4 while my other reputations are a little past Tier 5 already.

    Perhaps you are not as competitive as you think? In other words, I have no idea?

    Recently they implemented a change to the sponsorship system, and now any reputation you have reached T5 in will have its experience gain doubled for all characters on your account. So if you reached T5 in the Romulan rep on character A, characters B, C, etc. will level the rep at double the rate.

    My best guess is that this is the first time you're trying to reach T5 in Competitive, so it isn't going as quickly as all the others.
