I'm watching today's livestream, and it's just been confirmed that it's happening. But it will take a good chunk of time.
I'm guessing because a lot of design work not only goes into the T6, but in many cases they go back to the original ship model in-game and redesign it to be screen-accurate. Also, a console takes a lot of work.
Either way, we can stop worrying/complaining. We'll all get our chance to have our fav canon or existing T5 ships at the end-game. And I'm saying this as someone who had two wait until just the end of last year, a full 4 years after the release of Delta Rising and T6, to get my favs - the Ambassador and the New Orleans.
I'm excited and nervous at the prospect of a T6 Nova. What if they don't make it a Pilot ship in the vein of the T6 Miranda? Will all my waiting have been for naught? Yet if it never comes, how can it have a chance to be a Pilot ship at all?
As with all things, only time will tell in the end.

It would be interesting to see a non-binding forum poll asking what spec people would prefer on this ship or that ship. Might turn out to be a horrible mess for a variety of reasons, but could be interesting if people honestly voted.

There's arguments to be made for several specializations for the Nova, although none are particularly concrete insofar as looking at it and being able to say "yes, this is the best fit". Temporal is justifiable by virtue of the Rhode Island being featured in a time travel episode; tenuous, but it's something. Miracle Worker could be justified by citing the episode Equinox; what the crew did in that episode was horrible, but perhaps a version of what they did that doesn't involve murder could explain a souped-up Nova. Intel is just generally a good fit for Science ships, though it's a combination that's well explored by this point.
Pilot's my preference, personally. There's no canon reasoning to it, it's more a gut feeling based on the design of the ship and the way the dev's have built earlier Nova variants being Tac-leaning. To bolster my case, I usually present this old Perpetual-era STO concept art for the Tahoe-class. Judging from the windows denoting decks, it's about the right scale for a Nova variant. The broad, forward-swept pylons and flat/tall nacelles form a pretty snazzy set of "wings". The saucer's greebling includes this neat bit of layering along with the impulse engines that just makes it look zippy. Obviously if STO goes this route, they'll use their style rather than the Perpetual style for the design, but the ideas it presents are not only super cool and perfect for a Nova variant, they also lend themselves well to a Pilot aesthetic.
I'd love to see the discussion for specs for other T6 ships that haven't been made yet, too.
Romulans are already completed with their T6 ships. :^)
The remaining lockbox and event ships are a no brainer. Maybe we'll see the T6 Kazon ship that was leaked years ago and still never put in. There's still a good number of KDF ships that are missing T6 equivalents. On the Fed side, I'm interested in what a Steamrunner will come out as. My own was able to handle everything quite well even before the upgrade token. The Constellation cruiser will probably be out when the new Picard show airs. Most likely a Miracle Worker type due to how the other ones draw from the T3 Heavy Cruiser shapes.
Maybe they'll bring in the Aztec god ship from TAS.
I missed this Livestream. Is there anywhere to re-watch it?

Ah, thanks. I was checking Twitch, but I didn't see it there (unless this is the one posted a week ago? Anyway)...
At what point do they talk about the T5->T6 ships?

The key word in that livestream was eventually. It was also mentioned that it could take a long time.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Oh for sure. As I said in another thread recently, the Ambassador-class (a personal fav) was an Enterprise, and still didn't see T6 until just the end of 2018. So I'm sure we'll see T6 continue to roll out for at least the next couple of years.
Ah, thanks. I was checking Twitch, but I didn't see it there (unless this is the one posted a week ago? Anyway)...

It was a quick mention in response to a question in the Twitch chat. I want to say it was within the first 15-20min? My bad, I should have thought to look at the time stamp.
The only one Kael mentioned specifically was the Section 31 ship from Disco. Which makes sense, I'm sure they want to pump out most of the Disco ships before the Picard show introduces something new.
He also did mention the Disco Connie, but that they were still waiting to see it in action before committing to a build. Which makes sense - it would suck massively for both us players and Cryptic for them to release the Disco Connie, and a week later the Enterprise does something epic on screen that wasn't built into the ship.
The only scenarios I could ever see them NOT making T6 versions of everything in would be if either they were to move on to T7 or the game gets canceled before they got around to it.

You're assuming of course that they have plans on ever making Tier 7 ships.
Quite frankly, I think by making all Tier 6 ships scaling now, I think it'll solidify a point that Tier 6 is the highest TIer they plan to make.

Romulan ships for the most part canon wise right now are complete, while cryptic designs still have about 5 that are not Tier 6 yet. The Dyson Science Destroyer warbirds, the Ha'feh and Ha'nom split ships of the Haa'kona (which did get a T6 update).

I don't see the point of doing T6 individual variants as you can fly both ships at T6 (Kara) already if you got the T5 with Sep Console.

People have been asking for T7 ever since T6 was announced. The response has, and probably continues to be that they have no plans at this time to focus on T7. If they ever do, I suspect that the hulls won't increase too much, if at all, but they'll have a mix of specialist seats or the true universal seats that people have been asking for since specializitions became a thing.
I completely forgot about the Dyson ships. Those need some love.
I think the Oberth should be a part of it as well because TNG was the only series we saw it in outside the TOS movies and it did have a bigger version of it along with new technology.
However the Luna is already science based in this game so they won't make it tactical, it's more like primary science secondary tactical but they'd have to at least upgrade the lieutenant tactical seat to lt. commander, maybe they could also give it the command spec.
The only scenarios I could ever see them NOT making T6 versions of everything in would be if either they were to move on to T7 or the game gets canceled before they got around to it.

No, I'm not.
But I do see it as likely. They will at some point run short of new ships to release and want to sell the old ones again. The only ways to get people to buy ships they already have is to either make the new versions significantly better than the old ones, or to give them a label like "Tier 7" that makes it appear as if they are significantly better. The latter is what they did with T6 to great success, so it's logical to expect them to do the same again.

With several series in development, running out of ships doesn't seem likely in the foreseeable future. There's still a sizable backlog of DSC ships from Season 1, more added in season 2, and once the other series start hitting the releases amplify on top of further DSC updates (even a cartoon ship can be translated into STO.)
Cryptic can also add new specializations ad infinitum, experiment with more specialization combinations (ex. 3 seats for special ships, 2 for c-store), and double back on old ships with a spec swap and skin update. Eventually they're going to run out of feasible, marketable ideas but the way the game is setup, and the external factors that have arisen since the T7 when question was first posed, I don't think it's likely at all for quite some time (and it won't be driven simply by moar power since that can always be upped with new and more potent specializations, consoles, traits, ect. I think there has to be a substantial design reason to make a huge structural shift in the game's ship catalogue (ie. the central pillar of its economy), as we saw with T6 and the introduction of modular specializations.)
Basically it's a moot argument until factors change and Cryptic finds a definite point of diminishing returns with their ship releases, prompting a major shake-up. Per Ten Forward weekly comments last I heard this subject come up Cryptic has no plans for T7 at this time (never say never but we're probably not looking at the end of the T6 release cycle any time soon.)

That might be a dangerous assumption.
One could have also said: "By giving all Tier 5 ships an extremely costly Tier 5 Fleet Variant, and by putting Tier 5 ship into expensive-to-get lockboxes, there will never be a Tier 6."
But I could see that the only business reasons (sales of ships losing steam) could be that they are done with all canon and other lower tier ships, and people already own all the ships they could wish for. If eve new Specialization variants and new costume variants can't generate enough sales, a new Tier might be necessary.
If it comes to that, so be it, I think. We survived Tier 6, too. Remember we had a lot of fun over the years with our Tier 6 ships, that's not something they take away. (And if you didn't have fun with them, Tier 7 won't give it to you either)

I think a compelling argument can be made for a T6 Nova having a Miracle Worker seat. The Equinox was beat to hell by the time Voyager found it, but it kept chugging along nicely. Whatever spec it ends up having, I just hope it's not Intel or Temporal. Those have been done to death on sci ships, it's time for something different.

Nova is canon, and its T5, so its absolutely included in this. Not sure why you would be all frowny when you finally get word that what you have been wanting is coming.
Probably because the T6 Nova crowd will never be happy.
When it comes out, it'll not have the "right" specialization, the console/ability will "wrong for the ship," it'll be "too weak" despite not being an escort or cruiser, the T6 update will be "ugly as hell," and so on.
Even the T6 Connie diehards weren't this demanding. Nor did they take over any thread having to do with new content.
Anyways, back to the topic. We'll be seeing T6 variants of all canon ships in the coming while, so everyone will be able to fly their fav at end-game. As for debating the details of specific ships, there are threads for that as well.

I would be saying the same thing about spec seating regardless of whether it was for the Nova or another incoming science ship. I'll be happy with the T6 Nova regardless of whatever spec it gets. But, it would be nice to get some variety into science ship specialization. With the exception of the Hur'q MMSV, which is lobi, every T6 sci ship has been either intel or temporal. It's tiring.

That's an unfair comment. Firstly. I'm the only one who has really been overly vocal about this matter; I'd elaborate regarding why but my reasons are outlined in the thread I made regarding this back in September (and it's still fairly active) so won't repeat it here.
However what I will note (if you'd read my thread) is that I have REPEATEDLY made it clear that I, personally, really couldn't care less what spec/consoles/BOFF layout it gets. In fact I wouldn't give a stuff if it didn't get turned into a T6 ship. My beef is, and always has been, that the model desperately needs a quality pass. It's not canon accurate and never was, and dates back to the days when this was an Atari game and looks like something ripped off a Playstation One.
And I absolutely GUARANTEE you that I most definitely WON'T pick fault with it - but again, have been waiting five years and there is no end in sight.
This is true. @reyan01 has only ever really cared about the ship looking right.
