The character creator wasn't broken, stop 'fixing' it, you're making it worse.
Completely agreed.
I will be real, I am deeply annoyed by this change, but it was never a hot button issue for me. But you know what? It's getting damned near the final straw here.

PROS:
1. Nicely streamlined
2. Easy to use
3. Clean.
CONS:
1. Laggy as hell
2. Character sometimes looks like he is standing in the dark.
3. Faction order with a side note for those factions which have to select FED or KDF is missing.
4. UI scaling on the main character select screen is wrong (The first tab for creating a new character on the character select screen, there is slight overlapping of words and logos on the tab..Also the font on some of the creation tabs are damn big..It needs to be scaled down..)
All in all 2.5/5 its refreshing and nice but can be better..
Ok..I went through it again thinking the first run was buggy but NOPE..Its a lag fest in hell, NOT THE STARTING EXPERIENCE that any new player should endure..The old UI was smooth and easy to understand, this one is easy to understand but its still (cant find a word for it..)...
Guys, you are aware that the "save/load" feature was only removed from the initial character creation screen and not from the in-game Tailor, right?
What is your point sir? I used it frequently. Did you read my post? I am not the only one. A lot of people do this, they load the faces/bodies of previous characters, reroll the same character, or make a different version of an existing character. This is an unnecessary removal (like so much of this game, removing stuff for no good reason defines STO more than anything else)
I think my point was that the tone of some comments sounded like they thought the function had been completely removed from the Tailor altogether. Yes, I read your post, but I wasn't referring to it in particular.

I notice the bio window is missing from the new Character Creation system. And an issue which has been bugging me for a while now has not been resolved, possibly because it hasn't been raised?
Many of the female hairstyles have an issue with ears poking through the hair , this makes many of the hairstyles unusable for aesthetic reasons.
I don't know if I'm the only one who gets annoyed with this, but it would be nice if we could have this minor issue addressed.
I notice the bio window is missing from the new Character Creation system.
They said in the livestream that they removed it from the creation screen because you can always do it later in-game and they didn't want people to feel obligated to create their bio right at character creation.

It would appear that most of the changes of late are an attempt to make the game "easier" for new players to get started. They seem to be somewhat less concerned with changes that would appeal to experienced players.
I realize that recruiting new customers is an important goal, but I recall from marketing class that it's far less trouble and expense to maintain a loyal customer than to attract a new one. Many companies have suffered badly from ignoring their core business in pursuit of new revenue.
Well, based upon some posters here one would think this new UI is a disaster.
Just get custom saved looks to show up under "Presets" and its solved: A simple UI, that shows expert players their own presets instead of (just) the built-in ones.

I haven't seen all the changes to the character creator or used them, but I have some questions based on the screenshots I've seen in the linked post:
1) Are the changes going to include some added body patterns for Alien characters? As of right now we can't even put the "Host 1" trill spots on them when we have outfit pieces that expose their torso with some of the mirror universe tops or the exo III outfit. Can we not have the complexions that should be all over their body stop at the middle of the neck?
2) Are we getting some extra hairstyles? such as, the Talaxian Mohawks or mirror Tilly's long hair
3) Is the Biography box going away? I noticed a lack of the biography box that allows you to write a story for your character, in one of the screenshots. I know this is a feature that's often unused or misused by the majority (or at least a large portion), but does it really need to go? If so, are the people that took the time to construct a story going to keep theirs?
The new UI looks great, though I will miss the Save Outfit and Load Outfit buttons. Whenever they worked, they were a nice and easy way to load in character looks I'd pre-planned on a boff etc.
You see, such an important change is bad. If it is not broken why fix it? This is another case of needless changes and for the worst. UI display is one thing, nut "REMOVING" features is another.
Please put back the save and load options - It is literally one of the best time saving features in this game.
I have not had chance to read the new text but I am hopeful as one of my complaints about the old system was the character descriptions where inaccurate. How are the new ones? Are Engineer captains now described better?
Since this is related to this thread: I've just found a bug (which I've just reported in-game) after creating a character using the new GUI. Yesterday, I created a female Pakled character named Pellial Karili. Today -- lo and behold -- in the character list her name is now Dillumor. Excuse me? That wasn't the name I chose for her. And after choosing her, the in-game name (in top left corner of the screen) still says Dillumor. Thankfully, after pressing U, the correct name Pellial Karili can be seen. Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.
As for the changes to the Creator, I haven't personally had a chance to give it a try yet, but plan to later this afternoon. However, I will agree with what many others have expressed, there needs to be a Save/Load button available in the creation process.
I can't tell you how many times I've gone in to make a new alt only to have real life interrupt me before I'm finished. If I hadn't been able to quickly save my look, I'd have lost ALL the time I spent getting things how I wanted. If this were to happen to me as a new player, not having the ability to save quickly and then reload it later, I think I would give up and move on.

Hello. My name is iamynaught and I am an altaholic.
removing content (Who the TRIBBLE does that!? what the hell game developer REMOVES CONTENT OMG)
Every single MMO I have ever played has, at some point, gone back and removed lots of the early game content and replaced it with new content using the newest tech they have available. Really, what developer WOULDN'T go back, if they had the ability, and remake the early game content using all the new advancements they have now?
Name ONE, I can't think of a single one that has removed massive amounts of content. And the early game content in this game is largely intact, just revamped, like other games. I am talking about complete removal, not revamping. Your statement is verifiably false.
Every mission chain that was in the game still is. They removed some missions from said chains, but all the chains are still there.
In name only. The "Cardassian Struggle" has absolutely nothing to do with Cardassians. Those were some of my favorite missions, they needed revamped, not completely gutted from the game in favor of a mirror universe story that, while good, has nothing to do with the original premise.
Exploration is gone. Foundry is going away. An enormous number of Romulan missions are gone, and though I'm glad that Divide et Impera is missing, there were other really cool missions in that chain that are just gone, entire plot elements are just blown out into the vacuum in favor of "streamlining", while losing the soul of the story.
This happened all over the game. This game's soul has been gutted. Yeah, some of those missions were bad, but a lot of them had really cool stories and fantastic moments that are just gone now. The exercises in deep space where the Dividians first show up, the cool "you're really on a holodeck" Section 31 missions.. hell, the other 31 mission where you are tricked into delivering an agent to the Romulans. All gone.
I'm at my wit's end.
