Only time I use ARC is for entering freebie codes or purchasing Zen. Otherwise I launch the game from the application file in the Folder.

Please help to advise how to launch *only* StarTrekOnline, with no Arc?

    1. Under Windows 10, I tried installing Arc/StarTrekOnline.
~Confirm that STO can run under this setup.
~I then uninstalled Arc, but STO refused to run (even tried Run_as_Administrator)!!

    ie:
Directly running this As_Administrator did not work (after uninstalling Arc):
    C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online.exe

    2. My original STO Collector's Edition Installation DVD *does*not* install under Windows 10, just tried it and it failed to install.

***Please help to advise how to launch *only* StarTrekOnline, with no Arc?
(Want my PC to run as efficiently as possible, hence no Arc).

    Steam
Is ARC actually back up and running? I used to use it but then it was suspended - they decided to make massive changes or somesuch.

If those figures on Reddit are reflective of the whole population then that's really interesting because it means the STO steam charts are more accurate than we thought. Given that 44% of Reddit players are on Steam (big surprise to me) that would mean that there are currently about 2000 people playing with a max in the last 30 days of about 6000, that's in the entire game. I always thought the population of this game was more like 100K, but it seems not. No wonder Cryptic never release active play numbers.

Hehe, think one just needs to browse social hubs like ESD or DS9 or especially event maps like Risa or Winter Wonderland to realize that STO has always been game consisting of more like a few thousands than a few tens of thousands.

No idea about reddit stuff but peeps around here often speculated that roughly 1/3 of the players would log in via Steam. That’s one thing this poll seems to confirm a bit as well.

This would mean we likely look at roughly 2,5-6k players in game at any given time of the day at the moment. Such figures correspond a lot whole better with “felt” or “visible” stuff like the number of instances in social hubs or public PvE participation. The curves also underline that we seem to have a better population around EU prime times than US or the Asian time zones. Such stuff I often seem to see in game as well.

In any case I don’t think there is anything to doomsayers. Steam peak last 30 days was around 2600 peeps, almost the same as back in july 2012 of that table when I joined up STO. Not bad for a game that old. :)

Steam uses the old launcher. So really the third option isn't actually an option. it's really between Arc vs old launcher.
in any event i use the old launcher all the time.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

I'm not sure that's what makes the difference, but my game is installed in /Program Files (x86)/Star Trek Online_en/.

I created a shortcut on my desktop for the exe file, and it works without any problems.

What kind of error do you get exactly?

Find the Startrekonline.exe file under the Arc/Startrekonline folder, copy it to a new folder and run that file. It should install as a new game. You will obviously need to change your graphics' settings etc once installed, but if you have any issues starting it up, start the game in 'Safe Mode' using the Launcher's Options.

It worked!! (Can now run STO after uninstalling Arc Launcher).
In my Win10, it was under:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Star Trek Online_en\Star Trek Online.exe

MANY thanks for everyone's helpful replies, especially to guljarol and leemwatson!

(I don't like additional streaming client/platforms such as Steam or Arc, as it would slow down my computer somewhat).
