Add More Weapon Consoles and Improve Stats on Constitution Refit

Hi all,

I am a returning player. I am very impressed by the new skins for the Constitution Refit, Miranda, and Excelsior. However, I noticed that the Constitution Refit never got more forward weapon consoles. It had two when I first started playing and it still has two. KDF ships like the K'Tinga have four forward weapon slots. In TOS and TMP, the K'Tinga was supposed to be the equivalent of the Constitution class. Like most KDF ships, it has more foward firing weapons and more hull capacity (24,000) vs the Constitution's 19,500.

I'd like to get more use out of the Constitution and the Miranda. Right now they just sit in my ship slots as inactive ships. However, on KDF, I can go up against tougher targets and still use the K'Tinga because it has as many forward firing weapons as my Galaxy-class, it has a cloaking device, and better turn radius. Some of my starting ships even have three forward weapon slots which is more than my Fed ships. I always felt like KDF had better ships and the game was unbalanced since it first launched. I'd like to see some improvements to the Feds to help balance the game.

I also noticed that KDF gets better shields. For example, I'm level 36 on Fed. One of my highest shields, which is a capacity shield, only has about 4300 shield strength and it's Type VII. I have a KDF shield that's REG, only Type V, and it has more shield strength (4600) than my higher level Fed shields. That's not just because all my Fed shields are Reg. Some of them are Cap. There's a huge disparity between KDF ships and their item tech vs Feds.

I already know someone reading my post is going to say, well you can just get another Fed ship. That's true, but I like flying the 23rd Century Federation Starships. I'm also a free to play player and it's going to be a while before I can afford anything nice. In fact, Perfect World lost my Ambassador-class that I earned in the Temporal Ambassador mission for the 3 Year Anniversary Event.

To summarize, please add more forward firing weapons to the Constitution Refit and ships of the like (Miranda). It currently has only two slots for forward weapons and I'd like it to have four. Also upgrade the hull to 24,000 to make it equivalent to the K'Tinga. I would like to be able to use the Constitution Refit in PVE and PVP instead of leaving it in mothball. I doubt I will ever have chance to get a T6 Constitution.

Thank you, and again, nice job on the new skins.

The T6 Miranda and T6 Constitution already have what you're asking for.

I know they're available, but the Temporal Light Cruiser costs over a billion credits on the exchange, that's if there are any, and I am limited to 15 million EC. I believe I'd have to buy an Energy Credit Cap increase for zen. That's why I said I doubt I would ever get one. It'd be nice if they could add 2 more fore weapon consoles and a small hull increase to the lower tier Constitution Refit and similar ships. That's not asking for a lot.

Thank you for removing the nasty comment.

If the devs don't want to improve the Cruiser Refit (Tier 2) and the T6 version has everything I'm asking for, could you please put the T6 Temporal Light Cruiser (Constitution Refit) and D7 back on the C-Store? Even better, make is part of a special promotion again.

I hope that they will. The Constitution Refit is near and dear to my heart. I have been grinding away and selling items on the exchange for EC. So far, I have over a million credits but I've got a long way to go. Truly hoping with my fingers crossed that the promo will return or they'll make the Lt. Cmdr version of the Cruiser Refit a Cmdr version with a couple of more forward weapon slots and increased hull capacity.

    Cheers

Thing is, a T2 ship will always be a T2 ship and weapons/console slots are limited to what is correct for a T2 ship. Adding more weapons/console slots would make it no longer a T2 ship, instead it would be whatever Tier level was correct for the new numbers of weapons/consoles, which, as already mentioned, has already happened as they came out with T6 versions, with the additional weapons/consoles you are requesting.

Sorry, but they are not going to suddenly make a T2 ship into a T6 just because someone can't or doesn't want to pay to buy a T6 anymore than my local car dealer is going to upgrade my 10 year old truck with all the 2018 bells and whistles for me just because I can't afford a new truck.

Like the rest of us non-space rich players, you will either have to do without or else grind your tail off (or spend real money).

First, you misunderstood what I am asking. I didn't ask them to make the T2 version of the Constitution Refit into a T6 version. I asked them to give it 2 more forward weapon slots and a bit more hull capacity (24,000), same as the T3 version of the K'Tinga. I asked for that if they don't plan to bring back the T6 version. However, I would still like them to bring back the T6 variant.

The point I am trying to make here is that they revamped the skins for these ships, but my T2 version sits in my ship slots and never gets used because it lacks the firepower and durability of the T3 K'Tinga. The T3 K'Tinga can hold it's own with 4 forward weapon slots and 24k hull. I can still use that ship if I want.

It would be really nice if they'd return the T6 version, and as long as I have a mind and hands to write with, then I can still ask for it.
anymore than my local car dealer is going to upgrade my 10 year old truck with all the 2018 bells and whistles for me just because I can't afford a new truck.

I disagree with your analogy. Not only is it like comparing apples to oranges, and I prefer to stick to the subject. But, I actually got a very good deal on a new 2018 Hyundai Elantra at the local Hyundai dealership when my old car bit the dust and I needed a new one. I got 4k off the MSRP. I'm sure the devs would be willing to consider my request here as well.

Cold even stated they'd be back, but maybe we could get a better T2 version in the meantime.

Second, if you actually read my entire post (often doesn't happen on internet forums), I said I was grinding away for EC. I'm doing pretty well, but it'll still take an extensive amount of time to rack up 120,000,000,000 EC. That's if the lock boxes are even there after I've hammered away at getting the EC I need to buy it off the exchange.

Nobody wants an Elantra? I bought one and I see plenty of other people driving them too. In fact, Hyundai sold it's 3 millionth Elantra in September 2017. Do more research before making uninformed statements.

Moreover, you and arionisa are trying to change the subject from in-game ships to cars with poorly constructed analogies about cars. Stick to the subject. I bet plenty of people wouldn't mind having a T3 Constitution. I'd take everything you say with a grain of salt since you don't have any facts. Quit trying to troll; speak for yourself when you say nobody because you are exaggerating.

My request is perfectly reasonable. They can bring the T6 Temporal Light Cruiser as part of an event, or they can upgrade the T2 version. That's not unreasonable in the slightest. Additionally, I am asking the devs, not you so quit trying to troll. The game also has a very poor free to play model. You'd have to be a millionaire to buy all the ships they development, and a fool to squander your money on it. I'll keep asking until they bring it back as an event, or just grind away for the EC. I earn my keep.

Good news on the T6 Connie, each of the past 'Promotion!' packs has had the option of choosing the Connie instead of just the new ship, so more will be coming out next 'Promotion!' pack Events. Here's a link to the last one, with the Tzentar being the new ship. I've seen the Connie go for as little as 800 Million EC during those Events, PC side. Based on past releases, the next 'Promotion!' pack Event will be sometime in December. Make sure to buy the EC Cap increase, if you're on PC to go past 15 Million EC (console users don't have this limitation).

Another option, pending you're willing to settle for the non-Prime Timeline, is the Kelvin Timeline Command Cruiser. You can even change it up to have the Bussard collectors be closer to the Prime Connie's colors too. It's far bigger than the Prime Connie and bit different, but it's more affordable at around 320 Mil EC on PC.

That is a good find, but according to the article it was only available from Dec 7, 2017 to Jan 4, 2018. I also checked the C-Store and the Gamma Quadrant Duty Officer Cadre was the only pack I saw available under the Duty Officer tab. The pack details also didn't state they contained a Special Requisition Choice Pack. The details say the bonus items include:

*A stack of Gamma Quadrant commodities
*A stack of Embassy, dilithium mine or Spire provisions
*A set of 4 Fleet Modules

Yeah, the 'Promotion!' isn't live at the moment, but with luck (and/or Cryptic's desire for money) it'll be coming back in December, though it might be an R&D box wrapper instead of DOff pack wrapper when it does (R&D type more common.)

Also, note that getting a ship choice from a 'Promotion' is very small, and they wouldn't command a fraction of the price they do if it was a fairly common drop. So, if you plan on splashing out for one, it usually works out to be better to sell the unopened wrapper pack boxes on the Exchange and pile up the EC to buy it from the Exchange.

If you buy anything, get the Elite Starter Pack. It has the EC cap increase plus tons of other good for all the toons on your account for a reasonable price.

As for asking for more weapons on the Tier 1 starter ship... yeah, not gonna happen. It's a called a starter ship for a reason. ;)
While not a Connie, like others have said if you want a TOS looking fed ship at max level, there's the T6 Miranda and the Agents of Yesterday TOS ships, that when you buy the T6 temporal ship, you can use that skin if you bought that ship too. Personally, I have my AoY character in a Paladin Temporal Battlecruiser, skinned as a Ranger Temporal Battlecruiser. But if you don't want to spend tons of Zen, the Ranger is T5 and totally capable of end-game stuff.
Not only is it like comparing apples to oranges, and I prefer to stick to the subject.

Well, you are comparing a T3 battlecruiser to a T2 cruiser. Those are kinda apples and oranges too. And honestly, a T3 Connie isn't going to fair much better than a T2 in most instances.

And the Vengeance is also shockingly cheap. Saw one for under 300M last I checked.
And that is one of the best DPS monsters in the game. And Intel is a pretty good specialization. (Best one IMO)

I was looking for it on the C-Store under services. It's not there anymore. I actually posted another thread on it in the bug report section.

Hardly. If I were comparing apples and oranges I would have asked to make the T2 Constitution Refit comparable to a Vor'cha-class Attack Cruiser. But, I see the way you're looking at it. Think about it this way. The Constitution Refit was equivalent to the K'Tinga-class. As such, it should be comparable to it in-game.

Asking for a few more weapon consoles and a bit more hull cap. is like asking for a glass of water. It'd be simple for them to make a patch.

I also brought the topic up in my fleet. and one member made a good suggestion. Make it scale with your level, so at level 50 it would have 4 fore weapon consoles and more hull capacity.

In addition, they have the T6 Miranda and fleet Constellation which are both older 23c ships, they should have a better Constitution Refit.

So to summarize, make the T2 Constitution Refit scale with your level like the Ambassador-class I got from the 3 Year Anniversary Event.

That didn't scale, they gave you two ships, a Tier 3 and a Tier5, during the introduction run of the mission. It now only gives the Tier 3.

There is only one low-level ship that scales currently, the recently introduced Prototype Light Exploration Cruiser (Walker type). It only scales to effectively level 30, so more usable but still a pain to get working well at higher levels. There's a possibility that they might come out with the Discovery version of the Constitution in the same manner (complete with topping out at level 30), but I don't know how realistic of a possibility it is.

Ok, then that explains why I had one as an active ship with lower stats, and one in my bank with higher stats. I thought you could just keep trashing the old tier Ambassador and have an indefinite lock box that scales to your level. Someone was telling me you could buy the TOS Constitution from the C-Store, get all the gear off it, dismiss it, then reclaim it. I thought it was like that or a bug.

I see a lot of people talking about this ship in the fleet. Apparently, it's quite popular at the moment. Perhaps they've got the gear to make a viable build for it.

Another way to look at it 'for real' is that a tiny Connie can never be as powerful or have the hull of a much larger ship like a Galaxy or Ambassador. I've always been against making higher tier versions of low tier ships on that basis of 'reality'. You can't mount a battleship's 16in gun on a canoe, as an extreme example.

The Constitution Refit was a heavy cruiser which is synonymously used with the term battle cruiser. They were the same thing, the Feds just didn't like to use terms that would define their ships as warships instead explorers and multi-purpose ships. For example, the Defiant was unofficially a warship. Officially, it was classified as an escort.
You can't mount a battleship's 16in gun on a canoe, as an extreme example.

That would be an extreme example since a battle cruiser carries a similar size, cost, and armament of a battleship. They have less armor so they can achieve faster speeds than a battleship. That example would be more like comparing the Galaxy-class to a Type VI shuttle.

The Constituiton Refit tech specs state it has18 phaser emitters and 2 photon torpedo launchers. That's nothing to snicker at. They were obsolete by the 24th century, but the Excelsior, K'Tinga and Miranda stayed in service with continual refits.
The Excelsior Refit was even a match for the Defiant in DS9 "Homecoming."

The Constituiton Refit also shares the same skin as the Vespa, and they call it a cruiser refit. But they made it a Tier 2 ship with armaments similar to the Miranda, and made the K'Tinga a Tier 3 commander ship.

All I am saying is if the promo never returns or they don't put the T6 Constitution on the C-Store like the T6 Miranda, they could help the Tier 2 version by giving it a few more weapons, hull capacity, and maybe 1 more engineering or tactical slots.

Right now, when I get a better ship, I just deactivate the Constitution Refit and it sits there until I run out of ship lots. Then I'll have to trash it when I run out of ship slots because it's obsolete unless I buy more slots with Zen.

It would be nice to have T6 versions of the TOS ships, but the R&D Promo packs and exchange prices for those ships are flat out rip offs.

Oh, there's effectively TOS ships via the Temporal ships and the low-tier counterpart in the C-Store, just not the Constitution. Want a T6 Daedalus? Buy the Tier 2 Daedalus and Tier 6 Nautilus and set the Nautilus to use the Daedalus skin. Daedalus is canon and even older than the Constitution. There's a fair number of TOS looking 'Temporal' ships that can be combined with their upper-tier variant, though most of those are not canon. The closest combo to a Constitution is the Tier 5 Ranger (not upgrade-able) and Tier 6 Paladin (Note: available in a pack cheaper than just purchasing the ship by itself), close but no cigar. About the only reason I could see not wanting the Connie in large play would be aesthetics, which is supposed to be 25th Century, but AoY gives tons of visual options for that era. TMP era has even less issue given the ships added recently, though most of those were shown in service in DS9, but no Connie or Refit Connie shows up in DS9.

I just find it odd that they even have a T6 Soyuz, Miranda, Ambassador etc, etc. as those ships are pretty rare too. However, they don't have the T6 Constitution Refit available on the C-Store or from the ship vendor. At least they put the Elite starter pack back in the C-Store so new captains can now unlock the 2 billion EC cap. Time to save your pennies.

They COULD make a T4 or T5 retrofit version. That seems like it's be dooable. Usually they have a low tier version, a refit version, and a retrofit version. but while they have a low tier and and a refit version, they're both the same tier, and they don't have a higher tier retrofit version. Seems like they could go with that.

    Hi Folks,

Just writing to let everyone who's participated in this discussion know that I finally got a T6 Constitution Refit thanks to the Special Event for R&D choice packs going on from Dec 4-10 2018. I busted my warp core grinding dilithium and converting it to ZEN so I would have cash on hand and ready to use should the pack ever return. Looks like my hard work paid off because I was actually able to buy a four pack, so now I have 3 extra packs for other captains if I choose. This includes the D7 for KDF. Just thought I would share the good news.

However, some members of my fleet expressed the fact that they didn't have the ZEN on hand and wouldn't be able to earn it by the time the event was over. They may never be able to earn enough do to real life issues and obstacles which prevent them from playing the game on a regular basis. Therefore, I'd still like to promote making the Constitution Refit a Tier 3 Commander version, or one that scales with your captain up to your level. A T4 or T5 retrofit version as napolean86 suggested is also a good alternative.

    Thank you and Happy Holidays.

You bought one 4 pack and successfully got a ship from it? You are incredibly lucky then.

If only that were true. It's a choice pack. When you open it, you get a choice of past 23c ships that were previously released as part of R&D Promotional Packs.

Actually, I thought my analogy was spot on :) Doesn't have to be a car, it can be anything, real world or in game it doesn't change the basic precept. What your initial post seems to be saying is that you have something that you purchased, it is exactly what you paid for but now there is something better out there. Since the something better is more than you are willing/able to pay, you want them to upgrade what you already have for free.

Believe it or not, I totally agree with your second sentence in the second paragraph of your latest post, I would be willing to bet that almost every single Fed player in this game would love to have a T3 Constitution. I would go even further and say that if they were to add a T3, T4 and T5/T5U Constitution to the C-store a huge number of players would buy them in a heartbeat. I specifically left out T6. There is a lockbox T6 Connie which means a 99.99999999% certainty that there will never be a C-store T6 Connie.

The thing is, your latest post basically sounds like you are saying that you want them to add higher tier Constitutions and that you be happy to pay/grind for them. A concept I heartily agree with and I am one of the ones that happily buy every single one of them. However, your initial post, even upon re-reading it yet again sounds like you want them to upgrade the ship you already own because you are unwilling/unable to buy the better one, a vastly different scenario.

As for your comment about this game having a very poor free to play model. I almost snorted my coffee out my nose when I read that. I have yet to find a game out there with a better F2P model than STO, I haven't even found that comes anywhere close to being as good and having followed these forums for years I can say for certain that if there is one out there, nobody else that uses these forums has ever found it either. If you know of one (or more) please, tell us all which one it is. I guarantee that game will get a whole bunch of new players, and STO won't lose many players because, along with having the best F2P model to be found, it's Star Trek ! ! !
    LTS and loving it.
