Just what rank does your character have to be to purchase a "SMALL CRAFT"?

I am trying to carry out a mission in the HOBUS SYSTEM. That particular system FORBIDS ENTRY to "any ship LARGER than a SHUTTLECRAFT".

Now, I have visited the STARBASE 39-SIERRA 'SHIPYARD', and 'talked' to the 'manager', and when I tried to buy/select a shuttlecraft, THERE WERE NONE AVAILABLE at MY CHARACTER'S CURRENT RANK (Level 33, 'CAPTAIN')

So, does this mean that, to undertake the mission to "The Vault", your character must be a REAR ADMIRAL? (LOWER, or UPPER half?)

The vault mission should tell you to talk to an npc specifically about small craft who sends you to get a shuttle which then unlocks the ability to purchase others.

Assuming that worked make sure you don't search for shuttles by filtering your rank, just use the small craft filter and the list should be there.

U can get any shuttle at Level 0

Did the solution not work? You should be able to acquire a shuttle at any level.

After bloodying my head from "ENDLESSLY BANGING IT ON THE BULKHEADS", I finally got it! I went to the 'C-STORE', and "lo, and behold"! There it was, a gleaming 'YELLOWSTONE" class RUNABOUT, sitting there, just a waiting for me to claim 'er!

So, claim I does! But wouldn't you just know it! Even with me 'sparklin' new small craft, at my disposal. I CAN'T USE the bloody ship! The program 'DEMANDS' that I use a 'DANUBE' class runabout, to search "THE VAULT".

It shouldn't be nearly that picky about which small craft you use, but, if it is somehow that picky, you can get a Danube class from any shipyard by selecting All Ships, or Any Rank, or whatever it's called at the very top, and, if you wish to make it even easier on yourself, uncheck every box up there except for Small Craft. Small craft don't have a rank requirement, they even give one to Agents of Yesterday and Age of Discovery Starfleet characters immediately after the tutorial, and to Jem'Hadar after their ground non-tutorial.

I did the "vault" mission on my DSC shuttlecraft I even joked about doing it with 23c shuttle design to my fleetmates, so no it does not demend a specific smallcraft to do (since the DSC shuttlecraft is avaible only to AoD captains and no-one else).

All true, the Vault does not require a specific shuttle nor a specific level.

Honestly, I have never heard of anyone having this much trouble with this mission. It really is just as simple as talk to DeSoto, then go to the Shuttle Requisition Officer in the Shipyard, get a shuttle and go. The shuttle doesn't even cost anything you get a free requisition. There is a detailed walkthrough here if you're still confused.
