Hello All Star Trek Online Fans, Players, Developers. I , like you, Love this game and the realm of Star Trek. I for one have a great time adventuring in adventure zones like Nimbus 3 and New Romulus with my ground crew. But I am saddened that not a single new ground adventure zone has been added since 2014 Delta Rising.
It would be an absolute delight if we had slightly more regular development of adventure zones to bring ground game-play into the new content releases as well. Victory Is Life had many opportunities to bring a Adventure zone planet into the fold inside the Gamma Quadrant. What about a foot invasion of the Breen Home-world!
I just worry with the last 3 content releases, the reputation systems lean heavily towards space combat/missions ( which i understand is the main bulk of STO gameplay). But i fear that this trend of less and less ground gameplay development means we wont be seeing more, if any, new adventure zones.
Paradise City in Nimbus 3 is a joy that people still go back and play on alts and characters. More fun worlds with Cities/Outpost showing how this great wonderful galaxy of many difference races... living together and experiencing so many different species, would be a great addition to the game's immersion.
Ideas:
Adventure zone with the Orion Syndicate controlling shadowy streets of a large metropolitan city, We have to do things to Stop (StarFleet) or Help (KDF) the Orions, and as we do the zone can have an effect to show that either Starfleet or Klingon's have succeeded ( certain vendors accessible while a faction owns the adventure zone) .
Just an idea but this game has a great system of Factions already in place. We have adventure zones with quests system ready to go. Imagine now we combine those two and make adventure zones that might not be PVP based, But give objectives to each Faction that can cause some light conflict and incentive for the factions to keep on top in that zone. This is still a PVE zone but gives a sense of pride for your faction.
This game would be greatly serviced in that feeling of pride in one's faction, I believe Adventure zones can really bring this out with what is already present in the game's engine.
