What's the story with [KPerf]x3 kits?

There are a few on the exchange, but not as many as there were not long ago. Where did these highly sought after kit frames come from? How else, other than the exchange, can they be acquired now? When did they stop appearing? Why have they been removed? And who thinks they need to come back?

Did they add the Kit Frames to the Re-engineering System???
This would be a NO. Can not Re-engineer the Kit Frames. Just checked in the game.
I think most players are taking what they have, and are "re-rolling" to change modifiers to what they are looking for on everything these days...instead of paying the Ferengis in the Exchange. The market for specific modifiers on the gear in the Exchange is dead..except for special Crafting only ones.
If you look in your Inventory "Assets" page, scroll down...there is a new addition to the in-game currencies called "Salvage". Convert Loot Drops into "Salvage". There is no vendor, currently...only right click "Salvage" on each item...one by one. "Salvage" and Dilithium is the currency needed to use the Re-engineering system to change the modifiers.
I am sure there are tricks and tips for using the Re-engineering system efficiently.
I don't use the system at all, myself....so double check to make sure Kit Frames can be used and KPERF is a modifier that is available in the slot machine. Right click, see if the option to re-engineer is on the Kit Frame....then check to see if KPERF is in the list. (Last time I looked, they added words to the slot machine window of the available modifiers.)
And it is random...so use the lock to keep modifiers you don't want changed....I am sure you know how to use a slot machine.

If you have one of these old kits, they're worth more then most lobi ships on the exchange.
They go for 200-500M, I wouldn't throw them out. I personally wouldn't pay that for them (not worth it) but if you have a KPerFx3 kit, you can probably find someone to pay a mint for it.
It's only the KPerfx3 ones that are going for that though, the rest are probably just trash, but search them on the exchange first just to be sure. People will pay for things that they can no longer obtain.
No KPerfx3. Most likely these kits were loot drops (or on the Exchange for cheap) back from when Kit Frames were brand new.
I tend to save every single thing when they are "new" but forget I have them. Same problem I was having with the loot drops from doing Rep projects....I still have a ton of ground weapons from Rep projects.
So, time to trash...while it was on my mind.
OH and I checked before trashing them....you can't put Kits into that Re-Engineering system, still.
