Are there any REALISTICALLY named PS4 fleets that are recruiting?
I served in the U.S. Navy 7th Fleet & we joined up with the 5th Fleet for Operation Iraqi Freedom (I know, it was an illegal invasion; I’m not proud of that “war.”)
Anyhow, as aforementioned, I was in 7th Fleet.
I’ve been invited to numerous fleets. Some called “battalions,” “corps,” et cetera.
But, I am looking for a fleet with a simple, realistic name as I served in a real fleet.

> If XBox is any comparison, you'll prolly have to create it yourself. I should know, my Fed Rom is in a fleet called "United Federation of Hotties". lol
My Orion is in “Orion Sirens,” but for my Fed characters I am hoping for a realistically named fleet.
I was an engineer on my fist ship before becoming a public affairs specialist. So, I created my firat character as an engineer. I even named my first ship after the first ship I served on. Then the rest I named after other 7th Fleet ships.
What I would deem realistic for the setting are departments or subdivisions. My Federation fleet (PC though) is named "Exploratory Division" for example.

A lot of times, you simply can't do that because some fleet names are incomprehensibly ridiculous, IMO. Of course, I'm biased in that I play STO as a Trek sim, not as a traditional grinding WoW-like MMO that it is... so, for me, I prefer not to treat fleets like standard MMO guilds.
Of course, as in all things, YMMV.
> In many cases, I headcanon fleet names as unit mascot names... Mine, for example, 'Frontier Fleet' is the '7th "Frontier" Fleet'... because plain, simple '7th Fleet' was already taken at the time I created the fleet.

I contacted the guy who created 7th Fleet to see if I could join. He said he left the fleet a long time ago & didn’t think he had access to it.
I asked him if he could access it, if he would add me & give me admin permissions I would take it over & recruit people to keep it going.
He emailed developers & they told him they would not give him access because there is nobody in the fleet anymore.
Which begs the question: Why won’t the developers DELETE they EMPTY fleet, so that someone else can create a fleet with that name?
It is lame. The name (on PS4, at least) is taken up by a non-active fleet, with NO PLAYERS in it, but they developers/admins won’t delete the fleet to make the name available for others.
From my understanding, at least on PC, that's how it's SUPPOSED to work--when the last person leaves the fleet, it's supposed to delete itself. However, if there's even one person--even if that person has been inactive for years--it's stuck.
> As an aside... 7th Fleet is the name I wanted to use when I created Frontier Fleet--but it was already used at the time. 7th Fleet is the only by-name fleet mentioned in in-game dialogue--from a computer readout in a Tal Shiar surveillance outpost, from the mission "Mine Enemy", intelligence reports states that Observed from captured holofeed in Earth Spacedock:
> * 7th Fleet entered Neutral Zone as part of a "routine" series of exercises.

On PS4 7th Fleet was created by a user. I DM’d them about it, but they left the fleet & subsequently, everyome else left, too. It is vacant. But, admins won’t delete it.
