Cardassian FED or KDF

Just wondering how many of you fellow Cardassians chose the Federation or the Klingons? I can't decide on where to commit and before making a final decision I'd like to know how many are for each side. Canonical it make more sense to be Feds. But I am all for KDF if there are more Cardassian players going that route. Personally I would have gone Rom, sadly they are not their own faction and that isn't on the table (reason because of the past Obsidian Order working with the Tal Shiar. That would be awesome and fit with the whole intel cloak we have on the ships.)​​

    That is a much solid solution. Unfortunately I am trying to limit myself on creating too many characters. I have two left to spare. But I am saving that one for possible new dominion species unlock due to developer video that they may add after VIL story is complete. Not a guarantee however willing to wait and see if it happens.​​

    Well I hate to be a debbie downer but it basically doesn't matter. Have you rolled a FED to max level? Have you rolled a KDF to max level? There's no difference doing either as a Cardassian outside of the visuals for your character. So choose whichever starter story you prefer from the two.

    NP. Fleet friend says the same thing. "They are all the same thing. Just a skin. I won't make more characters or play Jem'Hadar because it is pointless." Well I don't really care for that reason. I like playing a theme even if the game can only provide a visual mask.​​

    storywise they should be Fed only... but you can get plas leech cheap if your kdf. but you get way more ships on fed side for admiralty. however kdf can marauder and so picking up prisoners and contraband/commodities free.

    Absolutely nothing at all appeals to me about KDF, and in canon the Cardassian's eventually joined the Federation.

    Mines fed. However you could justify kdf by defecting to kdf becasu you got tired of watching the detapa council bow down to the whims of the federation. ;)

    neoakiraii (Dukat). Unfortunately we have to pretend to be cozy to one of the big Powers of the Alpha quadrant.

    Well I'll have to wait a while anyways before making one. Downtime. And it's my birthday today. :( Shame they haven't included Cardassian weapons yet. But I may as well start one while the exp is on. I may go fed just so I can have an awkward encounter with Bajorans. I'd imagine it look something like this:

    Well if you are into Duty Officer Mission I would clearly say KDF its more profitable. Other then that I don't an advantage for either side.

    When making a new toon I always try to outweigh the options which side to take.

    Pro KDF:
    - Cheaper builds (DPRM & NX consoles/trait from a pack instead of a ship, energy weapon doffs cost less)
    - Contraband (generate dil or ec)
    - Easier exchange of fleet related currencies (most kdf fleets are far less developed and have fer less players/toon so it is easier to generate credits)

    Contra KDF:
    - Harder team up options (as most play fed)
    - Less content throughout the bank.

    With my dozen toons I end up with 8 feds and 4 kdf so far.

    kdf also has a major issue on cost... buying doffs cost tons more for kdf cause fewer ppl play kdf... buying purple or violet doffs better for feds.

    Because RR and DOM are fractions. You still have to pick either red or blue ultimately unless you want to lock yourself out of certain aspects of the game such as joining a fleet, equipping outfits from lobi or events, or participating in events.

    I have seen NO evidence that this has ever taken place. Maybe Cryptic is planning this in the future to appease the UFP player base once again, but it doesn't make it canon. Show me your source for the canon information and I'll submit, but as THE original pre-launch cardassian on the STO forum I'd resist such a notion.
