Have you made a lost city of legend? Do you want to make a lost city of Legend?

There are entire cities, nay, entire worlds that have been lost to us over time. They are out there awaiting discovery in our vast galaxy. Some are remembered only in legend.

Have you ever entertained this concept in the foundry? Would you like to?

In AEI the justification to my first map of "lots of Eternal obelisks" was an excavation of an obliterated city with only the major technological bits remaining. I don't think there was dialog covering this, but that was playing directly with how I wanted folks in that time to be operating (largely unaware of what had preceded them)
Bipedal mammal and senior Foundry author.
Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!

That's a neat take on the concept. :)

One of the older Foundry challenges from back when Branflakes was doing them was to make a mission about a major discovery that would "Change the way your captain looks at the stars". Ok, not 100% sure on wording. So, my entry was "Darkness between the stars". It's plot is about finding a derelict space ship that is not only ancient, but was made by a race that was NOT from the quadrant where it was found. The implication of this discovery is that if this race hadn't accidentally killed themselves, they might have colonized what is now Federation space and taken over the quadrant in the distant past.

I should've considered that finding a lost ship would provide the same kind of adventure as finding a city since we are dealing with sci-fi. Perhaps my view on this subject matter could use some expanding. Thanks for sharing your take on the concept. :)

I think you can vote "yes" on the poll.

While I have none publish, I've toyed with the idea, actually I find lost cities if abandoned easier to make then living cities with actual people living in them as that gets around the "cities with only 100 people in them max" problem the asset limits (to be exact the NPCs per map limits) can cause.

A city that has no-one living in them, doesn't need that many NPC models. Granted there's still the problem of building asset limits but you can get around that by using terrain.

something I've been planning is a city in a planet that's had its polar icecaps melt and due that has little to no dry land and most of the local civilization is under water as a resault of that. This also explains why you see so little of the city at once they don't want the whole city to get flooded if there's a breach, since I need a way to get around the building asset limit why not make that part of the story.

I like your creativity. Would be cool to see that mission become a reality.

Might take a while though as I don't have mission to insert it to just yet it's more on the "wouldn't it be cool" and "if I do this, how shall I do it" stages atm and it does pose several quite unique challenges over a city on dry land.

EDIT:that said a lot my WIP started out as "wouldn't it be cool" idea that I then started building a story around.
