Exactly. Why would I opt for a private trade if I can get the same thing off the exchange for the same price? The exchange is much easier to deal with.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.

Yep. 100% agree. This is exactly why it's considered poor form to sell stuff for exchange prices outside of the exchange. They're just wasting people's time with such offers.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.
This is a late reply. I never accused anyone of cheating... just saying selling in zone for exchange prices is suspect.
I also very much alluded to exactly how a scam version of this works. Its simple there are 30 of X T6 ship on the exhange. Cheapest is 300 mil second cheapest is 400 mil and a the rest are all 420+.... you buy the one for 300 mil, and then jump in zone chat saying hey I want this thing gone someone want it for say 350 mil 50 mil cheaper then the exchange. (everyone that plays STO knows its an Infinity box ship and will repopulate at the standard infinity price in no time... but there is a window there.) That type of thing happens on the exchange all the time of course... but at least your not actively trying to sell someone like a used car salesman.
They can check... and yep that is correct. Find a sucker and you just made 50 mil.
I think I was clear that I believe in this case the OP has simply not played a bunch of MMOs before. If someone is going to mess with the hassle of a zone chat trade, the deal has to be an actual deal. At exchange prices why would anyone bother jumping zones... running opening trade windows ect.
Frankly I think anyone trading in a zone chat is being dumb. Trades imo are for GIVING things to friends or people you want to help. If you want to sell things use the exchange. I'm not a fan of trade for EC channels either I don't get the appeal. Barter deals I get a but more.... close to 100% of barter type trades someone is getting short changed.
Guess I'm a toxic player cause I laugh at idiots trying to sell stuff in zone chat for the same price as on the exchange all the time. I don't PM people or anything, but I'll mock in zone chat.

Yeah, no. That's not cheating, let alone scamming. It's a form of price gouging, for sure, but not scamming. For example, if someone wants to take the risk, and buy up all 30 of T6 ship X, and relist them for a higher value, then let them do so. Thing just is, price gouging doesn't really work, in the long run, as ships tend to settle on a price ppl are willing to pay for it -- not exceedingly more.
Also, if someone listed a 400 mil ship, and someone puts one up for 300 mil, and then someone else snags it up for that price, and sells it at 350, then you're still getting the ship for 50 mil less than the 'normal' listing price. I don't see the scam. I see someone making a profit, but that's not scamming.

I am not saying its cheating ? I am not saying its even scamming if your doing it on the exchange. Do it on the exchange all you like. 100 other Exchange workers will gladly engage in Exchange PvP with you on just about everything of value in game. Nothing wrong with that and its fun. Nothing sells for more then anyone is willing to pay.
What isn't cool is pushing exchange prices up then trying to quickly find a sucker fast in zone chat. I find it sleazy and so do most people that play STO. Which is why you don't see many zone sellers in STO. In other MMOs (pretty much any other MMO) zone selling is thick... and 90% of them involve some type of "scam" (hey where still talking about video games... the FCC isn't busting anyones door in for role playing a ferengi, or an a*ole in EVE)
STO is the only MMO I have every played where the community seems to really detest anything that may take advantage of newer players. Only game I can think of with a thriving public service channel where people really just help people out cause they can.
If I wasn't clear in my posts... the OP isn't a scammer I believe them completely. I was simply attempting to make clear why their actions would be perceived as scammer type behaviour by many in game. List it on the exchange, list it 5% cheaper then the cheapest, if it doesn't sell go 10% if you want it to move fast go 20%. They should really not be having any difficulty moving T5 admiralty cards in the middle of a roll a new toon promotion.
I don't use Zone Chat for anything, don't even pay attention to it except to see my rewards listings fly by. That being said, I had no idea it was a Mortal Sin to list something in Chat for the same price as on the Exchange. Never realized it was
Mocking? Why would you do something like that? But if you really feel the need to do that, take some lessons from these masters of the art:

I said it before, I'll say it again..
You did nothing wrong. You were in no way 'toxic,' if anything.. you were nicer then most people would be. The OP just needs a bit thicker skin.. if he thinks you're 'toxic' then he is really going to be offended by most of the other replies he's going to receive.

Not at all... referring to them as 'idiots' is what makes you toxic.
