Can you add letters to crates and stuff?

Been trying to figure this out, and sorry for asking all the questions, but you guys are great.

I want to put the letters BFA on the sides of crates in the game. Is there a way to do this?

Short anwser:no

Longer Answer:we're allowed to use stock assets as they are in the list. You can create custom costumes for ships and characters with certain limits but modifying assets is out of the question. This isn't a bug but limit of the tools were given and is not likely to change any time soon.

So I figured a way around this (can't write on crates though). Thanks for the information.

You can stack objects to make composites that look different from the starting parts.
