Why is the patch so slow to load?

daqheghdaqhegh Member Posts: 1,490 Arc User
Every other patch I've loaded was MUCH faster than this one. It's been 15 minutes and my patch is BARELY at 23%.

Does preloading from Tribble still work? Is that still an option? I don't have all day to wait around on a video game. I might legitimately not have time to play when and if it loads. Is there any faster alternative?

I have no intention of wasting my life on a seasonal event that has nothing to do with Star Trek. Is there any way I can opt out and skip the patch entirely, or am I forced?
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

Possibly everyone trying to patch at the same time, could be your connection, could be anything. I had a 1800mb patch when I turned it on and it didn't take too much time to finish up.

To answer your question, yes, you have to patch or it won't let you play the game because you don't have the latest patch. If you don't want to do the Summer Event, don't go to Risa.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

Mine was weird, it was almost painfully slow until about 400MB was in, then the last 1400MB went faster than some "just server maintence" patches.

It could be anything that's slowing the speed of the download down, from an IP conflict on your network, your ISP, localised weather conditions, thousands of people trying to patch at the same time etc, etc. There is no faster alternative either. It is what it is, and yes, you have to patch. Risa has everything to do with Star Trek as it is a popular holiday destination within Star Trek lore.

If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

This could potentially have something to do with it.
