Plasma space weapon sets

so just looking around recently we have had quite a few sets from featured episodes, may of the phaser and disruptor energy types but there have not been many plasma weapon sets in the game, leaving plasma behind in terms of top teir useage.

Not quite. Any alliance-related set has also plasma bonus damage. The (mission reward -low hanging fruit) is the 2piece Bajor Defense set. Cat1 around half of a tac console.

The reputation set two piece from the Romulus reputation - Zero point conduit console + Hyperplasma torp or Experimental Romulan Beam Array (beam that does not drain Weapon energy when firing). Cat1 around half of a tac console.

The two piece of the Synergistic Set (lockbox ship/exchange available) consists in two consoles that boost the weapon damage of plasma by a cat1 33%

Plasma (on beams especially) is very underapreciated for what it really is. First-hand tested. While it is probably lower than Disruptor, Phaser and Polaron, it is on the same lane with Tetryon - underrated, but still viable. AP is actually somewhat disapointing, from first-hand testing.

Sure plasma has some things that boost it's base damage (so does pretty much every other type) but it still lacks alot of things which make phaser, disruptor and even AP so popular. The nausicaan set is a godsend for disruptor builds as are the terran DHC & beam. The Quantum phase set is pretty great for shield stripping and also a decent general set for extra exotic damage (the 3pc beam attack scales with EPG, AUX and +Phaser). The trilithium 2pc +Haste is just a straight up DPS buff for phaser weapon builds and includes a omni phaser beam.
As for AP, that permanent +CrtD is awesome for crit builds. May not be grat on certain builds but can make a great impact on others.
Bottom line is some energy types have been left in the dust for along time and since plasma got literally nothing noteworthy since the no-energy-consuming-beam from the rom rep it's pretty much at the bottom of the list. It still dosen't even have a mission reward omni beam for those build types with 3 omnis in the back.
It really needs something to make it relevant again.
