Dilithium System Issues

So, as it stands right now, Dilithium is used for so many things. But the ways to get, and refine it are in alot of ways insufficient. Getting it is usually quite easy, but very grindy for some. Refining it however, that is where it needs to be redone.
Here is what you can refine in one day currently:
  • Without a fleet: 8,000
  • In a Fleet: 8,500
  • Life time/ 800 Day vets: 9,500
Ok, so that seems to be alot. But it really isn't. Here are all the systems (That most players will use) and how much:
  1. Dilithium Store : 20 - 1,000,000
  2. Upgrading : 800 per click
  3. *New* Re-engineering : 800 per click
  4. Most fleet items : 8,500 and up
  5. Most fleet holding contributions: 1,000 and up
  6. Reputation System : 9,000 and up (weapons, consoles and sets)
Still think its alot? Now you are getting it. I recently swapped over to Dis from Antiproton. I had 60K Dilithium refined before I did so. I bought 40 Pheonix boxes, to get upgrades, Upgraded all the weapons to MK XIV (using 0 dilithium), upgraded three consoles, Got the Terran Dis beam array (15k Dilithium) and re-engineered ONE beam array. I am now out of dilithium.

So, if they are going to revamp an old system, I think it should at least be the refining of Dilithium.

(I may have missed some systems that players use, please let me know, and I will update it).
!EDIT!

Based on some feedback, I now see why they dont change the refinement rate. So, based on that, Why dont they remove it from some things, and reduce the cost of certain items? Re-engineering really should not have it. That is when I believe they went over the top with it.

The refining cap has been discussed to death. Raising the refining limit will most likely kill the game. F2P players depend on the dil exchange to get Zen, people with money (and willing to spend it on Zen) depend on the Dil exchange to get Dil. Raising the refining limit means the exchange jumps up to 500 as Coldnapalm said. F2P players then quit trading dilithium for zen, big spenders can no longer trade zen for dilithium and quit spending money on zen. Revenue dries up, game gets shut down.

Do like the rest of us, refine your 8,000 to 9,500 and use it for what you need as you get enough, if that is too slow for you, spend some real money, buy zen and trade it for Dil. Revenue comes in, game stays on...
    LTS and loving it.

Isn't this one of those frequently screwy topics and they close them?

Yup I agree with the comments above the dilex is good as is..The re-engineering addition is a good little sink..Also we are seeing sun 270 rates for dilithium to zen now on the exchange..Last year it hovered majrly at 400 thereabouts.. So leave the exchange as is..

They will not remove or lower the Dilithium price tag because it is a way to slow players down. Once the players in this game acquire what they want.....they quit playing, if you noticed.

And no, it doesn't seem like it when you first start playing or are fairly new...but you will get to the point where you will have excess Dilithium to convert to Zen and other such "frivolous" sounding things.

Or you may end up bored of the farming game...and move on....

I personally would rather see a limit of (8000 dil) * (active character slots) = totalDIL. Then with one character, I could still get a limited amount of DIL, without the hassle of multiple characters, etc. Same thing, different way of looking at it, keeps more character slots valuable, without drying up anything that all the doomsayers are complaining about.

edit: Example: Right now I have 1 main character I am working on. I get 8000 dil a day. I have another character level 30, that can also get 8000 dil a day. Using the system, that's 16,000 a day. Why can't I just do 16,000 on my one character? Same difference no?

Dilithium = Cryptic's reward to players for time spent playing the game.

The more you play, the more you get. It makes sense for players to spread their time across more characters because Cryptic is dang generous with unrefined Dilithium. Only bottle neck is the refining part. The work around for it is more characters. That is the system. We are just telling you the best way to use it.

In other words...do not waste your playing time, by collecting Dilithium that can not be refined.

It's not a waste though, since I need experience to get those specialization points on my MAIN character. Alt's are just that, alts.

In any case, it's one reason i got fed up with and quit WoW. I don't want to play the game at YOUR pace, I want to play it at MY pace. I understand limiting it, but not to the point where it's actually a hindrance to progression. You already get screwed over with bank slots, and account slots, as a f2p, and from what I've seen, they are not incentivizing me to invest more money. Quite the opposite.

I also understand that "that's the system", but that's a lame excuse to stifle ideas when it comes to bettering the game experience for people. It's the people that pay the bills. Maybe I'm in the minority, and maybe my money doesn't count for as much as yours, but that doesn't mean it's worthless. The people that were turned away, could be the same people that might have kept the game going for years more. Not to say it's dying, but it does have a lifespan. If that lifespan could be increased, wouldn't you want that?

Be glad. Before the phoenix boxes dil was morre fun for f2p.
Dil is quite easy to get i sto, it's good for the entire game balance that it is capped to refine each day. Different people have other paces. Some people don't even have enough to refine each day. Or are forced to get 8k dil a day.

Your pace isn't wrong, your pace is your fun. You can play the entire game without spending a cent. That's because the dil is quite in balance. Ask around what happens to dil, if no one wants to trade it for zen, since dil is to easy to get.
Ingame items like reputation would also be adjusted.

I would like more refined dil each day to make it easier. I can refine more within fleet, and the veteran NPC. But i always have something to save and spend dil on. Keeps me playing. To bad the arc quests are disabled else you had an option to farm zen to buy more dil u needed.
