Tip Jar on Foundry Reviews....

Does that even work??? Or is it a waste of my time?

I don't mind leaving Dil as a tip....but what is the point if it is broken.

Are words are better? Seriously, I can use my words. LOL!

It was working last time I checked. What's happening?

    How does one know?

I mean, I can see it going....but for all we know it is going into the void. Not to say I give a TRIBBLE about 100DL....but still...

    Foundry Authors? What say you???
Words? Or some piddly amount of Dil?

I always appreciate a well thought out review (good or bad) over Dilithium.

That said, BOTH are the best. :)

Any type of response or recognition is appreciated, by any foundry author. Tips, Reviews, both, or simply telling friends about "that cool mission where you did the thing."

The only Foundry authors who would complain I would think have the wrong mindset.

But yes, tips work. I know plenty of foundry authors that check their tip jar and get giddy at even the slightest spare change added.

I concur. I published the first half of what was supposed to be a two parter a few years ago and I still get the occasional bit of dil for it. It's nice to be appreciated.

I am relieved to hear that my Dil gets to the other side to all of you.
Because I would have to yell and scream in the Bug section, otherwise.
And I think it is delightful to know folks are signing in to look for their tips.

    But one more question....

If I find something "not quite right"....I think may be programmed issues????
What do I do with those types of things?

Not a bug, like the STO game program is broken...but more like a mix up with configuration??
For example: the wrong type of unfriendly mob is spawning for one of the ground battles?

    +++++++++++++++++

Also, I made a thread in Klingon Discussion for recommendations of Klingon missions.
Please post titles for missions here:

    https://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline/#/discussion/1238322/looking-for-klingon-foundry-missions-for-endeavor

And I mean ALL missions....even Federation side ones....with inspirations from Klingon faction, or has KDF involvement, or includes KDF mythologies...etc.

Teach me about the Klingons in Star Trek, Foundry Authors.
    Thank you. :)

I haven't heard of something like that happening in my own missions or those I've played. It's completely possible though for an author to place the wrong faction for a story. So, it wouldn't be a bug or the game being broken. It's something for the author to look into (since I think it's likely a mistake on their end.)

You can either leave that kind of feedback in the review as a footnote, or you can message the author directly (using the @ handle listed for the foundry mission.) :)

OK, will add it to the review, then.

Thanks, Everyone... That's all the questions I have.

I just had a friend report to me that it took him 2 hours to finish one Foundry mission! That is insane!
So, I am not sure this stuff is for me. I rarely have that much time to spend in one sitting.

    Thanks, again. :)

well Duncan's missions can easily take hours if you do all the optional stuff, it's not so insane as it sounds as at least for Duncan the core of the story isn't that long but there's a lot of fluff pieces that you don't have to read but add to the experience if you do.

Of course you also have the authors whose missions take hours due to vague objectives and directionless writing but you can generally avoid those if you read the reviews.

There are thousands of missions that are much shorter lengths.

The currently hidden search function (I don't get it either!) has a number of filters on it, one of which is mission length. You can very easily set it to find missions for the time limits you have.

the search function that's "hidden" as in you have to look for it rather being displayed as default.

    Uh... I meant: WHERE

Because if I can search on "Klingon" and "Under 1 hour" that would be cool for me.

Now, you did it.... I am just going to have to call up my game.

(was taking a break from a weekend of non-stop Omega particle farming...I am so burned out I didn't even want to look at the game LOL!).

    ++++++++++++++

OMG.... IT IS HIDDEN!!! Geez, Louise! It took me the time for my guy to fly from Ganalda to Qo'nos (and a bit longer) to find this thing!!!

    Ridiculous.

OK I found the correct section.

Click on "BROWSE ALL" button in left hand menu.
Click on the DOWN ARROW at the top of the screen (next to the text) to open Search Box.
Click on the DOWN ARROW, select "CUSTOM" in the drop down menu under "Type" of Search.
    See pic below.

That brings drops down the search menu. I will post a picture later. I have to go make dinner, now.

    Lol.

There is a picture of it included in the new Foundry interface proposal below in my signature. On the new interface, it is placed in plain view on the very first page people see - where it belongs!

It sure would be nice to get this implemented at some point, really helping folks like the OP find missions that meet their needs.

Yeah the Foundry UI has a lot of cases of "what were they thinking" design both in the game and on the editor side of things, while I dout any intentional malice was involved, I suspect there's more then a few cases of "it seemed like a good idea at the time".

Get access to all 91,000 Foundry missions (91,000!) with a simple, new User Interface:
    arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline/#/discussion/1193842/modify-the-foundry-ui-for-better-mission-access

You know... your idea for an updated Foundry UI is nice. But I have my doubts the program can search and display through that many items. Think about it, this isn't a modern program. Look at the Exchange, for example. Look at the way we have to interact with everything in the UIs.

It may be that 50 missions is all it can handle at one time? A Foundry database search would be slow going and displaying it may gimp the entire system while it is running!!

Did you ask the Devs about the limitations of the game program before you unleashed your idea to the Forums?
I do believe if you ask the UI guy....who ever he is....he will respond in private to you about that. Probably won't go much further, though.

    ++++++++++++++++++++

An easy update is (and one they may actually be able to pull off): remove the drop down menu and make the current search interface front and center in the "BROWSE ALL" tab.

BUT....people still need to find titles, at least. Someone will have to list STO Foundry missions database on the web somewhere...and someone would have to keep it up to date.

But with 91,000 line items....people will STILL have problems wading through that much data.

That is why it's broken down into sub-categories (like the Exchange), and then displays 50 missions at a time, just like the current interface. (well it ONLY shows 50 - ever).

The big difference is everything is out in the open and easily accessed. The current hidden 'search' interface fiasco you experienced is just a sample of how closed off the current interface has made the Foundry.
