I don't mind TRIBBLE for what it is ... but I wish it wasn't another prequel attempt. Why can't they just keep moving forward and make it after voyage?
Yeah ethereal you DSC haters are a very teensy tiny minority, just like the TNG haters were in 87. Get over it.
I think there is more than just a tiny minority who hate TRIBBLE...
MOST people who actually like star trek, dont like TRIBBLE. Because its common sense. People want to watch star trek, not another dull sci fi packed action show. But Azrael must be just a cbs fanboy or something like that. Or obviously he never watched star trek before lol.
I mean, i accept TRIBBLE as a regular science fiction show. But when i watch it, i dont think in star trek, because its not lol.
I consider most of Star Trek to be garbage (including the movies), and I only genuinely enjoyed ToS (though I didn't like the ToS Season in STO because it was stupid and meaninglessly fanboyish).
The reason why post-ToS era trek was so bad because it had too many boring filler episodes designed for mass cosumption - with maybe the exception of DS9 (but even then it got stale after a while). At least the devs managed in relatively good taste absorb only the best ideas from the series (even from the horrible abomination that was Voyager), and make a pretty good game out of it.
I'm not a huge fan of TRIBBLE, but the hate for it is completely unwarranted. And guess what? Trek has always been blatantly SJW, in perhaps different ways, so it's nothing new under the sun. Let them throw as much TRIBBLE in the game as they want, it won't affect me.

Not all hate is warranted, but there is plenty of hate that is. The show just completely defecates all over canon, and that is easily my biggest complaint...if they would have set it up in the JJverse instead of trying to rewrite Prime I would have no complaints.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
Plenty of threads in Ten Forward to discuss/debate the shows. Please do that there.

Perhaps CBS is looking to re-write canon in accordance with our times, since the Trek franchise inevitably always had some kind of political angle.
From a political/reflective point of view, the original canon is definitely out of date. From fictional point of view it doesn't really matter either way. Since I don't care about the former, it doesn't matter to me as long as the entertainment factor is upheld.
STO is just another (good) MMO for me, and not something "more". I'm only interested in its varied customization options and the ability to make very complex builds.
This thread will probably descend into ten forward I'm sure.

Yeah I agree with this. I expected for a long time that it would be set after Nemesis because it made more sense to me.
You're always limiting yourself, unnecessarily so imo, by making a prequel. There would be much more freedom in a post-Nemesis setting because there's very little canon to adhere to.
Discussions such as the 'fire first' thing with the Vulcans could have easily been prevented. Any discrepancy between the new show and older canon could easily be explained as just another development that took place since those original events after all.
