So the tailgating was AI? I just thought it annoying. At least when the Iconians were doing it, it was for damage purposes, here it was for... what again? Awkward firing angle?
Didn't do much, in my Krenim even with the bad angle beams with BFAW picked them off in little time with such little hp. Might have taken marginally longer than usual, but not so much it was felt. Gonna take my weeest captain next week and see how that goes.
Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end of it.
Try doing the mission in a Presidio, really hard to keep them in front
I just fire the aft torpedoes.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
Did this on my fed Paladin last night finally and they were sitting on my behind at all times. Unfortunately I have the the trilithium torps back there so that needed an adjustment.
The problem with mines is the very long timeframe from the moment you drop them, the time it takes for the mines to deploy, and also the time for the mines to arm.
The H'urq however look like a Grav Well Ship's dream come true.

Where do you get trilithium torps? I have the hankering to destroy some star systems you see.

Oh, do they suck like regular tricobalts or are they actually good?

They've a long cooldown as usual but with the swarmers gluing themselves right to you and rear torps will explode pretty much right away so little no risk of them being shot.
Mines that get dropped you kind of need to loop back and fly through them because of the spawn and deploy time.
When I played this mission, the swarmers got on my aft and nearly ended me. I was on my Fed "Cardasian" alien tac in the T5U Galor. Was able to heal back up pretty well then gave them little buggers a face full of warp plasma followed by BFAW.
I went through with a Rom-Sci in the Fleet Deleth Advanced Light Warbird using tetryon weapons, grav torp, 3 piece nukara armaments set (really funny seeing web mines hit the tzenkethi station). Had no particular problems.
I did it on a rom-eng in a Deleth running an SC/torp spam build. rear-facing Torp spreads are really useful for dealing with enemies that like to tail you.
Turrets and gravimetric torpedoes work just fine, or any torp that can be launched fast with an AOE for that matter. Can't get behind you if they're dead already.
Point defense console, point defense trait, Breen Cluster BOOMBOOM torpedo Reversed Tractor Beam Repulsors and Tethered Quantum Mine. You ever see those firecracker streams go off? That's what happened with chain warp core breaches from the swarms. You could even use the Bio-Arcane Barrage set bonus w/ the Undine rep heavy turret.

they are. GW3 and TS3 on a Dauntless makes for happy happy science joy joy. 2 omnis aft and forward firing gets 2 beams plus the torpedo, aft gets 2 beams and the quantum .
It was interesting to note the performance difference in different runs in different ships. For example, a cannon escort drain build was not fun, whereas ctrlx-heavy science builds with torpedo spreads made me more annoyed that the enemy groups were so far from each other than anything.

The pint defence console is also a charm...

> And people kept sneering at my insistence on putting mines on all my ships...
I really like the tractor mines.
My escort run was the easiest in fact.
