Hello and welcome to the 26th Century Foundry Mission Building Challenge, sponsored by the Foundry Roundtable.
From the date of this post, authors will have 5 weeks to create their missions, after which there will be 3 weeks for the community to play through and cast their vote for the winner. The winner will be determined by a majority vote.
The mission creation deadline is 4 p.m. US Pacific Time, Feb. 13. The voting deadline is 4 p.m. US Pacific Time, March 6.
Challenge Topic:
The year is 2564. Earth has disappeared! After an unforeseen incident in the Sol System, Earth and everything in its orbit was catapulted across the universe into the Centaurus A Galaxy. Long range sensors can’t tell us where, so we have to go looking. The Federation is sending a fleet of ships under the U.S.S. Enterprise-J to find the Earth and, if possible, return it to the Milky Way.
The fleet – including contingents from the Klingon Empire and Romulan Republic – is traveling to the Centarus A Galaxy using the Enterprise’s experimental Hyperwarp Drive.
Participating authors are challenged to make a mission set right after the fleet’s arrival in the Centaurus Galaxy. The search for Earth must begin somewhere, and that’s up to you!
There are a few simple requirements:
- You must start your mission at the Teneebia System.
- Missions must be tagged with [26c] in the title
- You are not allowed to find Earth just yet (we’re saving that for later)
The Foundry Roundtable will be building a short introductory mission that we will have finished concurrently with the challenge entries. It will end with the fleet departing for the Centaurus A Galaxy, after which other authors will take over. We will be setting it up to handle both time traveling captains from 2410, and those native to the 26th Century. The touchstone is that either one will be veterans of Procyon 5, 10 years before our missions are set.
The community has come up with some characters for the crews of the U.S.S. Enterprise-J, I.K.S. Durgath and R.R.W. Valkis that authors may use in their missions if they wish. You are not required to use these characters.

Just like the Iconian War and the Alliance Exploration initiative, The 26th Century Anthology will be open for anyone to contribute missions at any time, not just for the challenge.
A new century, a new galaxy. That’s license for authors to take these missions and truly go where no one has gone before!
Prizes:
The winner will receive a code for a Holographic Geordi LaForge bridge officer!
Rules:
Please make sure to adhere to the Foundry EULA and the rules below.
Authors must add their mission to the official
Mission Thread including the following information.

Mission Summary:
The above needs to be filled out completely by the due date/ time for your mission to be considered, and your mission must be published in-game at such time to be considered -- unfortunately, any mission that cannot be found in-game by the time the voting starts will be removed from this entry thread.
If you are unable to push the "publish" button at this time due to timezones/ work schedules, please wait until the latest possible moment before this day/time. Also, if you need to publish your mission to test things, that is fine too, but please make sure to unpublish after testing is complete.
Rules of the challenge:
- The challenge will run for 8 weeks total, 5 to build the missions and 3 for the community to play and vote. If there is any unscheduled lengthy downtime during the challenge, the deadlines will be extended by the appropriate time.
- There are no right or wrong stories to tell, as long as they are about the beginning of the search for Earth in the 26th Century Centaurus A Galaxy.
- Missions should take 30-45 minutes for a player to complete, in order to make sure players can play through all the missions in a reasonable amount of time.
- Once the mission is published, it should not be withdrawn, even temporarily. The only exception to this would be if for some reason players are saying they can't complete it and you need to fix something so they can. If you find spelling mistakes, feel free to fix them only after the competition ends. In general, we want all the voters to be considering the same version of your mission.
- Voting: when the 5-week build period ends, a voting thread will be posted with the information on all submitted missions. When you have played through the missions and selected your favorite, send a forum PM or Twitter DM to @drogyn1701. This will serve as your official vote. Limit 1 vote per person.
- In the event of a tie, @duncanidaho11’s cat has been chosen as the impartial tie-breaking judge.
- You may leave a review on each mission you play if you wish, but it is not required.
A few other important reminders:
- Please heed the Foundry's EULA when submitting your entry! This applies to any mission made in the foundry. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!
- Each author may only have one entry, no matter how many accounts they have.
- We'll have three threads: One to discuss the entries (this one), one to submit entries, and one with the official entries list for voting that will be posted when the building deadline arrives.

Character Costumes: I altered some of what you all submitted, so that the sliders are mainly left default so they will be easy for authors to replicate quickly.
Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
Don't worry, Duncan. Yours appear to be recognizable. I think Drogyn changed one of mine (Lothair) the most. And I'm OK with it. His reasoning was sound. The only suggestion I made was that Lothair have Smooth ears as opposed to humanoid, and Drogyn said it was a good idea. So go smooth with Lothair. It's a Changeling tradition -- for some reason.
