As soon as I mention my guild name People block me. Im tired of it everyone else can mention their guild and no one bothers them. Im being harassed and no one is doing anything.

If you don't fix the spam blocker IM quitting. That mean you support this type of abuse. { Correction MUTED. when players join together and hit ignore to mute someone from chat. This feature should not be because it can be abused by trolls.}
Umm...dude, people can block you for whatever reason they see fit. If they don't like your fleet and you mention it, they can block you and that is not abuse...nor is it anything crptic should do ANYTHING about. The fact that you think people who want nothing to do with your fleet should be FORCED to deal with your fleet IS ABUSE. So the only person I see being abusive is YOU. So please leave. The door is that way.
This was intentional its abuse of the spam feature. the block feature is fine but the idea its preventing people from participating in game to recruit for their guild. YOU LEAVE! anyone should be able to use the game feature without being harassed. Would you like of if i teamed up on you as soon as you say anything. Mean people get therapy!

SOMBODY needs to do something about the trolls. If they can moderate do something in game to stop people from abusing this system. The spam system was designed for spammer not people who use the chat feature for common use.
Why should I leave? Did I give an ultimatium? Did i act like a spoiled child because somebody was being a meaning and blocked me? So once again, why should I leave? You are obviously not going to get GM support...since there ain't any...and sure as hell ain't gonna get player support since you are an abusive jerk who seems to think that their fleet has a right to push themselves on anyone who does not want to deal with them.
I see what your about... stop your trolling me. Ive read some of your post your just as bad as the trolls in game. I don't know why people are so mean spirited find some balance in your life and learn to be be kind to people maybe people will be kind to you.
Need to specify if it is getting ignored/blocked, or muted as these are not the same thing. Also mute is normally what is used/handed out by the spam system, except in really extreme cases, while block/ignore is on a more player side choice an only apply to the player that is ignoring/blocking. By the sounds of it this sounds like they are getting muted by people abusing the spam reporting system, as not liking a message is not grounds for it being spam, since spam is determined by the number of time the same message is repeatedly put into chat in quick succession.
Would say take the things in your guild message out, which are causing the spamming reports to happen, even maybe use another toon to advertise your guild thru. Sadly by placing "LGBTA" in the message makes you a target for many people, where if you had people pm you inquiries on specifics of the guild you could get around dealing with that segment of players.
Spaming the zone chat with fleet recruit mesages is a form of spam if overused. If your recuiting text have the same tone as this forum post i can see why you are getting reported.
Threatening devs with quitting is kinda imature considering there are lots of more important game features that need to be fixed first.
Maybe its not your fleet name but the way you are handeling yourself that is upseting people. In have nothing against g*ys (can't use the word) but if i'd be one i'd rather not having to deal with "easy to throw a temper tantrum people" especially one that outranks me. Being a recruiter myself i can safely say that are better ways to recruit than spaming zone chat in the first place. So stop victimising yourself and be smarter with your recruiting tactics.
Devs have managed to stop the gold sellers spam that was insane, i'd rather not having them break that btw.

He started to mock me about my guild then told his buddies to put me on mute, then counted down and they muted me.
Its frustrating that everyone else can talk about their guild but as soon as you mention yours you got BUT WIPES harassing you. Its bothers me that their is no in Game GM to do anything about it.

all it needed was one time. then a barrage of insults.
This is very frustrating because it is already hard as hell to get members who are open minded to join then to run into trolls who gang up on you to mute so you cant get members. Its very sad to be muted as you watch others advertise their guilds and nothing is said no one gangs up on them to mute them. Then to joke about themselves being trolls. The game needs a in game GM. they need to change the ignore feature so you can ignore the person with them being muted.
Sometimes you get things like this. I was was once subject of agressive harasing by one guy that i only sugested a youtube link with the guyde about how to do botse without trigering the fail objective. After i closed a him off he made several new accounts. I closed up completly then last thing he could do is chat invites spam. After ignoring this for 2 days he got bored i suppose. You get this kind of people in any mmo.
If what you said its acurate the even more reson to be smart about it. Why ? cuz i very much don't think this game can change its settings without letting gold seller spam thrive. Make sure you record your recruiting session and present proof to support. It might take a bit for them to correct the issue but in my dealings with them they ware fair. Also there can be better, more personal way to recruit people in the fleet. Considering sto declining population you ahve a hard job there ...
It's easy to see from your behavior in this thread alone that those that reported you were more then justified.
You come here and talk about being open minded and you're so concerned with your 'rights' as a player, but just like everyone that starts these threads, the 'rights' and 'respect' only go one way. Instead of looking at your methodology and trying to figure out what you're doing to incur this reaction you instead blame everyone else. Your rights concern extends only to you and not those around you.
People advertise their fleets all the time, constantly.. without this issue. Most players just ignore it but for some reason you are drawing the ire of those in the zone at the time. I haven't seen your recruitment message and I'm not going to guess as to what in it is offending people, that's your job. If this is happening to you on a regular basis, then you simply have 3 choices on how to proceed going forward..
1. Examine your behavior and look for things you can correct.
2. Continue with the behavior and accept the consequences.
3. Quit recruiting/playing.
Pick one, it's up to you.
Best of luck to you, but honestly.. you're not going to find much sympathy here. You instantly started a thread naming players, blaming everyone else, calling people trolls.. you're simply not doing anything to endear people to your cause. If you use the same method to recruit for your fleet then it's easy to see why you're having this issue.
This is very frustrating because it is already hard as hell to get members who are open minded to join then to run into trolls who gang up on you to mute so you cant get members. I am not following this. That other group who muted you are all friends and already in a fleet so you haven’t lost anything as they clearly wouldn’t have been recruited with or without the mute.
Plus as they have muted you they can no longer see your recruitment adverts and so will not be interfering or getting in the way of your recruitment.
How are they stopping you from getting new members? They cannot see your posts, cannot respond to your posts. Next time you log in and recruit they won’t know and so will not be able to stop you. If lots of different groups of people are blocking you time and time again then you have to take a step back at look at what you are doing wrong.
Wow..My head spun reading this.If some one muted move ahead..Carry on with your game man..If you find this bad then there is something wrong..Play SWTOR for example..You'll be ripped apart with this attitude..
Advice here..If someone mutes you..MOVE ON..Game wont stop there for anyone..
People have the right to like or not like you. If they find your stuff to be not to their liking, they have the right to avoid you. You cannot "politically-correct" push people into interacting with you just because you feel ignored. Find people of your kind and system of beliefs and seek their attention. People alike interact well. Don't push acceptance. That's called social abuse.
So you are saying that you are being targeted because you promote an LGBT fleet? And that people are targeting you simultaneously to trigger the automated spam blocker? And that you have evidence of this happening from Zone chat?
I use a Fleet recruiting message about a dozen times a day spread throughout active zones. I have never had this happen to me. And though I am not L, G, B, or T I think that what you are saying, if true, is repulsive, not in the spirit of Star Trek, and that it should be dealt with.
But your method of approaching the matter needs a little tweaking. There are plenty of trolls in this Forum, and some of them are probably hiding behind arbitrary rules to mask their own prejudices. You probably picked that up in the disproportionate amount of resistance found in some of the responses above. So there’s that. But from what I know of Cryptic, they are generally in support of LGBT fans and communities in their games.
I highly suggest you make screen captures or videos of this happening, especially the count down (which shows a conscious awareness of how the automated system works), and any statements which indicate they are blocking you solely for being LGBT. Collect all of the names of the players you believe to be involved.
From there, I would do a few things: a reworded forum post that includes the evidence (no names, demands, or ultimatums), a report to the GM in game that has the players’ names and your plan to take it higher (save your reference numbers), a professionally worded email to Cryptic and Perfect World that contains the times, names, evidence, and a good description of what has transpired. Keep records of every single exchange as you deal with this.
If you are able to prove your case, and if the Powers That Be refuse to help, then you’ve got a case of negligence or malfeasance, in which case I would let them know that you are going to start going public with your evidence. Start with a free Wordpress website and lay out all of your evidence, the timeline, and the responses you received. Go to their professional sites and start contacting people at the bottom and work your way to the top. Then, if you still can’t get help, start writing to gaming communities and news sites, explaining that there is a hidden culture of anti-LGBT trolls that Cryptic/PWE refuses to deal with. They certainly don’t want any negative publicity that could reduce their player base. And you will find that you have allies.
But don’t do any of this before you prove your case and give them a chance to respond. Usually, in cases such as this, it is a matter of getting through to the right channel and in the right way.
Keep being you. And best of luck to you as you try to build an LGBT community where you can feel comfortable socializing and enjoy the game.
1. Don't respond to insults in zone chat, you will only get more and encourage others to join in. Use the Ignore function.
2. Don't push your beliefs or standards on people. Opinions maybe valid, but only serve to aggitate when forced.
3. Don't post recruiting messages less than a few minutes apart then people won't be inclined to report for spamming.
These simple rules will save you a whole lot of bother!
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Find people of your “kind”? Same kind of language used to promote prejudice toward interracial couples in the past. Simply existing openly as LGBT is “social abuse”? Oh, please, get over yourself. This player isn’t abusing anyone. Heteronormative players have no more claim to the public chat as anyone else.
First, if people do indeed block other people because they are LGBT, that is showing extreme closed-mindedness on their behalf, and they are quite wrong to be in a Star Trek franchise in the first place. But it is their right to ignore you, and within this game use the features that do so, as long as they don't claim you did something wrong.
Second, insulting, ridiculing or otherwise harrassing people for whatever reason is not acceptable and should be dealt with, regardless of whether the issue at hand is homophobia or whathaveyou.
Then, as an aside, being LGBT is not a "lifestyle choice", especially not a choice, and the people of LGBT are not a "kind" that should somehow be kept apart or keep apart from the rest of the players.
But with all that said: many fleet inviters will get a block from me because they spam the same text (with the same typos) every 3 minutes or so. And many people being overly aggressive or whiny also get a block from me because I just don't want to read such stuff. I cannot know about the former, but judging from your comments here, I agree with those who guess it may have something to do with it. If I catch somebody talking like that in zone chat, they become oh-so-blocked. Even if I agree with them in the discussion at hand.

I totally get that. No one has to sign up for drama. This player’s approach to the problem (and probably recruiting) definitely needs some work. I tried to read through the OP’s comments because this is probably a lot more infuriating to someone whose identity is wrapped up into it. In fact, to find solace in the future promoted by Star Trek only to play STO and find the opposite would be hurtful I would imagine. It doesn’t impact me, but if people are banding together to abuse an automated muting system for the explicit purpose of targeting LGBT induviduals, that’s something I would like to see looked into as a player who spends his money on the game.
Comparing LGBT to interracial couples is downright disingenuous. You can't help what colour you're born, you can help what lifestyle you choose, and apart from a short period in US and SA history, interracial relationships have been legal i.e. prohibitions on them are the anomaly.
STO is supposed to support all identities. Does it? For some identities, choosing an LGBT lifestyle is offensive, and in many countries around the world illegal. So long as folk are ... reasonably polite and tolerant, I don't see Cryptic insisting on anything more. They aren't here to dictate a particular agenda.
I ended up switching off player IDs or somesuch simply because I got sick of the fleet names pushing particular lifestyle choices. Makes for a slightly more complicated approach to things, but probably more realistic.
