There used to be dedicated STF channels that were super active back in the day when you were required to play ALL the Borg STF's to collect all the sets.
Simulations remind me so much of those glorious days.
You didn't even need the STF channels for this, back then. You could literally hit zone chat and advertise what you were and that you knew how to do the STFs. Even more so, if you were a Tac or Sci captain that could tank Aramek.
I think they did a good job with the provisions for the colony holding. Not 'good' in the sense 'I like these mini-games' but they certainly got a lot of players to be active in the content that rewards these provisions. The Simulation channel for instance, may well be the most active channel I've seen in a while.
Unique reward that people want. Works.
Not like the diluted-to-the-ground rep/fleet marks.
uesh The colony sim is an example of content that has a good reward that is highly prized by all players right now and in demand. Plus it is actually content that is good fun, the reward:effort ratio is good and it promotes great teamwork. It’s the perfect example of what to do right to get people playing content.
By contrast things like the competitive rep or the red alerts are poor examples where the reward ratios are all wonky, for the comp stuff nobody enjoys some of them and others are uber-fast and too easy. Plus the red alerts in particular offer uni rewards so are actively pulling people off the actual rep content for the rep you are tackling. It’s like the uni rewards and red alerts are sabotaging the queues and reps.
There needs to be an alternative solution to getting the PvE queues populated again
There will always be things in the list that will never be done (unless they find their way into the endeavour system) because either they are badly made to the point of not being enjoyable or simply don't come close to the time/reward equation a lot of folk work with.
Getting that sorted will never be an easy fix.
Maybe if they added a weekly "hit list" that folk could do where completing it would award fleet specific things like the dil vouchers you can buy from the mine. Randomise the list each week. Downside is that you'd end up the situation that by the weekend the unpopular queues would be back to being dead as folk had done a blitz and wandered back to the same tired old ones.
