Clarification on special Doff assignments

ironmakoironmako Member Posts: 770 Arc User
I'm opening 1 or 2 lockboxes a day, primarily forthe Lobi, and to sell whatever comes out of them. Sometimes I cat a cryptic item which is used for Doff assignments. For example, Today I claimed a Holonovel storage device, which apparently is worth just 300k on the exchange. But what is the reward for completing such an assignment, does the reward outweigh 300k EC? I've also collected in the past, some 23rd century items which are used on Doff assignemtns. WHen I was selling these, they were coing for 2 mill +, so are the rewards for these Doff assingments much greater than the value of 2 mill? Has anyone done these missions and can they explain in detail what they are about, and what sort of rewards would I be looking at?

Thanks in advance.

Those assignments are sought after for several reasons. Including by myself, I use them for leveling newer toons. I completed 4 of them on a toon two days ago and went from level 20 to 31 in four clicks. also completing the chain of them gives several rewards including I believe 30,000 Dilithium, as well as a special title for the completing character.

Some of the items - Temporal Beacon and Holonovel Storage Device - award special DOffs on completion of their assignment. The value of these DOffs vary from a couple 100k EC for Uncommon ones up to several million for the Very Rare ones like Hamlet, Ophelia and such, but the awarded DOff is random and there's no telling which one you'll get of course.

Other items, though, the Temporal Investigation, Mirror Investigation and so forth, just serve as assignment chains that award, as already said, dilithium and a title for completing all of them and also for crit'ing all of them.

If you like DOffing yourself, then by all means run the assignments, you might get lucky; but if you're wanting more a steady and consistant income then you may as well just sell the items. My personal opinion (Of course, I'm an unrepentant DOff/Ad-Sys'er myself, so... biased.)
