Experimental Weapon Beam Size

I recently claimed the "Experimental Hyperexcited Ion Stream Projector" from the Dilithium Store (for players like me who already had qualifying ships before they were given the Ex-Weapon slots), equipped it to my Kolasi (T6) and am finding a serious problem... not with how it works or the amount of damage it does, but with a visual factor - whenever it fires, the beam is massive, instead of a smaller beam like any beam weapon, or even a medium sized one like a Spinal Lance, the Ion Stream Projector Ex-Weapon's beam is the size of my ship, it's well, it's part-ridiculous and part-unbelievable...
Is there any way that it could get shrunk down to a more reasonable beam size?
