Colony World Simulation with all STO players

angel#5567 angel Member Posts: 17 Arc User
Good day Star Trek fans,

We all know about the new Colony and that we can start a simulation there as fleet. But what we also found out, is that you can play the simulation with all the players on STO.

We have done this and we also completed all 30 waves. Here is a printscreen:
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/323904263052853249/369236065606828032/unknown.png

Now that we know that we can work all together and that there are fleet's that don't have many members also can join a simulation and get the max reward out of the simulation, we started a special in-game channel.
Name of the channel: Simulation
Easy way to join the channel:
/Channel_join ''Simulation'' <--- Copy/write this and place it in the chat and hit Enter.

The goal of this channel, is to bring players together to make a simulation. You can ask to join a simulation if there are already players busy with one, or can can say that you will host a simulation.
The person that host the simulation, have to invite other players to there Colony map. It is also handy to make 4 groups on the Colony basis and it is smart that you have a Engineering on your team. There is a guide below this message. The person that host the simulation, is the one that also start the simulation.

With this option, fleet's that not have many members, do have the option to join other players to get a lot of provisions for there Colony holding.

Okay, that was all.

Best regards,

Maikel

Here is a guide to help out, this guide comes from https://www.sto-league.com/colony-defense-simulation/:
You could start the simulation (Security Officer, next to the spawnpoint) with a T1 fleet or higher. You need 3 provisions to start the simulation. This simulation is a great way to earn provisions for each tier to upgrade the Colony Holding.

Teams (and yes, team up per generator to get teamwide buffs like rally cry, tactical proficiency and so on):
1x Eng per Team (REQUIRED if you want it easy going, check the build at the end of the post)
1-3x Tac per Team
1-3x Sci per Team

The simulation:
You have to defend 4 Shield Generators on the map.
There are a maximum of 30 Waves in this simulation. Defend the Generators. The engineer of the team should place a Medical Generator (from R&D) and the Photonic Barrier Generator (Iconian Reputation) next to the Shield Generator and keep them running all the time. A covershield could protect one side of the generator too. Every few waves there will spawn an enemy mortar a bit outside of the normal spawning area from enemies. One person should engage that Mortar directly. In addiditon, kill the most dangerous enemies first, the ones with heavy aoe attacks. For Voth as example, kill the Furiadons first, continue with Exosuits. Crowd control/knock downs are helpful for this too.

As a special stage you have the Orbital Bombardement every 10 rounds. 1-2 persons from Generator 1 or 3 have to go to the roof/3rd stage of the colony and kill the strike team there.
Every 5 rounds there is the possibility to end the simulation.

Reward:
Its possible to get 2100 of EACH provision per person for beating wave 30.

Useful Kit Modules:
Eng:
Medical Generator (from R&D, highly required once per generator, REQUIRED!!)
Photonic Barrier Generator (from Iconian Reputation, REQUIRED!!)
Neutronic Mortar (from Delta Reputation)
Plasma Flamethrower turret (from Embassy)
Echo Papa Drone (Exchange/Lockbox)
Seeker Drone (R&D)
Explosive Drone (Exchange/Lockbox)
Chroniton Mines (R&D)
Tac:
Motivation (Exchange/Lockbox)
Rally Cry (R&D)
Ambush (R&D)
Graviton Spike (Summer event)
Echo Papa Drone (Exchange/Lockbox)
Trajectory Bending (Exchange/Lockbox)
Paradox Bomb (Temporal Specialization Store)
Motion Accelerator (R&D, to get faster to the Spawn at the Top every 10 waves)
Sci:
Paradox Bomb (Temporal Specialization Store)
Cold Fusion Flash (Exchange/Lockbox)
Exothermic or Endothermic Induction Field (R&D or Summer Event)
Seimsmic Agitation Field (Summer Event)
Chronomatic Diffusion Field (Temporal Reputation)
Useful devices:

Large Kit Overbooster (R&D | Kit performance buff)
Large Hypo
Nukara Reinforcements – Elite Reprogrammed Drones (Nukara Reputation, useable out of inventory | additional pets, damage, crowd control)
Gambling Device (Lobi | crth&crtd buff, 1h duration)
Powerboard (Summer event, in case you need to switch position fast)
Frequency Remodulator (Replicator | against borg)
Shard of Possibilities (featured epsiode replay, crowd control)

Amazing initiative. As soon as I have some time, I'll throw in my toons. And maybe clean up all those useless channels I keep on each toon.

The channel is doing good and it also proven its goal. Because the channel is one day old and there are already 179 players using the channel and still growing. I also test it out in different time and you get very easy 20 players.
It is so good to see that players want's to work together and that all fleet's get a chance to get a lot off provisions.

To be honest I find using a guide made by another channel owner to advertise your new channel a bit impertinent OP but each to his own.

Inviting off fleet players to this event is not black magic. I think I continue doing so over the existing DPS channels. That way I’m also assured to get peeps which have proven themselves in PvE.

    Thanks for the offer though.

The guide from sto-league.com is a good guide, so why make a other if these guys already have a good one!
And yes it is your own choice if you want to use it or not, but my opinion is it easer to use one channel. Also there are new players that even not come in the DPS channels, but they do want to know the game better and also do the simulation. And my both fleet's are also focus to help new players. But the main thing, is that also fleet's that are not with so many members, also get the chance to get a lot off provisions for there own fleet and not all players is busy with DPS, so they also don't use the DPS channel's.

Unless Cryptic changes this mission to pay rewards after each wave this will turn out to be the biggest frustration creator in the game. It takes 30 minutes to get all people in place and despite multiple reminders, gen 1/3 forgets about the strike team and everything wipes after wave 20. Yet another hour wasted for measly rewards. It's autocollect for me from now on. See you when my holding finishes in 3 years.

    Hey everyone,

The simulation channel is 5 days old and already have more then 450 players in it, so not bad at all.

I do want to ask all players one thing. If you join a ''Simulation'', then wait for the person that host the ''Simulation'' and that all four teams are complete and ready. Then the person that host the ''Simulation'', can start the simulation.

It did happen a few times that the simulation was already started and the person that is hosting the simulation, was not ready with inviting players to the map or players where not in a team and ready to fight.

It's also in the ''Message of the Day'' of the Simulation channel, that the person that host the simulation, is also the person that start the simulation. This will give players the time to make good teams and if there are new players in the game, that not know where to go, the person that host the simulation, need to help them.

Okay, thanks for understanding and have fun in the game.

    Greetings,

And remember guys, a full 30 wave run will take approximately 45 minutes. Schedule accordingly.

I’m trying to set up a fleet event this week to get as many fleet members as possible in on an sim. This is a great resource and I rather like that I am knocking out hard to get accolades while avoiding those BORING mini games. Thanks!

This runs best like an Army platoon. You have 20 soldiers, and four squads of five. The leaders are the platoon sergeant who directs four squad leaders. The platoon sergeant begins the simulation after ensuring the four squad leaders are in position with their teams. And like any good squad you have soldiers with a variety of specialties.

    Hey Everyone,
You me all know about the Simulation channel in the game and a few players also asked if there is a Discord server for the Simulation.
There is one now, we just made it. So if you want to join the Simualtion server as well, here is the link you need:

    Hello everyone,

The Simulations are up and running again and it is very busy on the simulation channel. But there is one thing I want to ask you all about.

It is off course very cosy on the channel and you see a lot of players talking on it and that is no problem at all. But I do want to ask you all, if you see that a hoster announcing a simulation, that you wait with talking until the hoster is finish with inviting. Because if all players still talks in the channel, then it is difficult for the hoster to pick the people out that are waiting for a invite. If you see people saying that the map is full, then you can just continue with talking on the channel, if you are not in a simulation off course, because in the simulation we use the zone chat.

Thanks for understanding and have fun with the simulations.

    Greetings,

    Maikel

This channel is working really well i must say. Getting lots of good runs, and even those that go pear-shaped are enjoyable (you gotta fail sometimes!).

Gotta say thanks to he OP for setting it all up. And also to @felisean for the initial guide as well.

I must say it is a HUGE enjoyment to see a full 20-man PVE that encourages proper teamwork and is getting people both involved in the ground game, involved in the game, and cooperating/helping each other.
This is just the sort of content STO has been in dire need of for a long time.
