No Monthly sub option for console

Why don't the console versions of the have a monthly sub option? There's a lifetime sub option but no monthly. Games like DC Universe online have several sub options but STO and even Neverwinter don't, why is that? Is it because of Sony and Microsoft? Just wondering. I play both versions though mostly the Xbox version.

It likely has to do with signed contracts with both MS and Sony that does not allow Cryptic to offer subscription services, or Cryptic has voluntarily agreed not to offer a subscription option.

Information contained within legal business documents are considered proprietary which means neither Cryptic, MS or Sony needs to divulge that information to the public. And of course that means people cannot obtain such information by illegal means. This is standard business law practice. The only way to change the practice is to somehow being a lawsuit and have it go as far as the Supreme Court of the United Stated, and then somehow the Supreme Court Judges must be convinced to rule in favor of making information contained in business contracts public information. That will never happen.

I don't think that's it. Cryptic's newer game Neverwinter doesn't have subscription on PC either. I'd say it's good chance the only reason STO and CO have subscription is because they sold lifers before the PWE acquisition and didn't want to rock the boat too much when going F2P. They saw a chance to make the console versions fully F2P and took it.
