Quick question, is there a way to have a contact ship start off as friendly and then turn into an enemy you have to defeat? If so, how? I cannot figure that out. Thanks!
P.S. If it's possible would the same method work for ground contacts?

short answer: sort of.
Long answer:You cannnot directly change a contact into combatant or the other way around but what you can do is despawn the contact and then spawn a identical looking combatant in it's place which storywise is the same thing really.
This works for ground contacts too however the transition is generally not as smooth due to all ground groups having more then 1 member.
or what you can do is surround an enemy npc with invisible walls on a reach marker. Have a popup come up on screen with dialogue and set the triggers on the walls to make them disappear once the dialogue objective is complete.
So the mission flow/objectives would go like this.
-speak to enemy (reach marker) -pop dialogue objective
Right here is where you would make the invisible walls hidden when popup objective is complete.
I hope that makes sense, but I do something similar in my mission.
So just real quick, how would I get a ship to become a combatant? I get that I have to make the contact disappear and then spawn an actual combatant, but can you use the costume editor to actually make particular ships to fight with? I don't remember being able to do that. I thought you could only choose combatants from the list of "squadrons".
So, just to make it super simple to explain, if I wanted to create a ship that looked just like the Enterprise-D and have a map where it's literally just sitting there waiting for me to fight it (not swapping out contacts or anything, just a blank map with a single ship on it, already marked as an enemy) how would I do that? I know I can make a costume and assign it to a contact, but I don't remember seeing anywhere the ability to make a SPECIFIC ship with a costume and mark is as hostile. I'm sure I'm just missing something really simple. Thanks!
You do the same with ships as you do with characters, you can create a costume, then click on each individual red arrow (npc placement), then you can select the costume.
You have to click on the group icon to pick the propertys like animation or patrol.
WARNING: Unlike the ground units in which you place a group of five and therefore get five ... Ships are different ... they change per the players level. If you want ONE NPC to fight then pic the highest rated group and change all the costumes to the same ship; Most players will get one npc to fight, but some will get two of the same. Nothing you can do about that.
Feel free to msg me.
