Question about mission

I am playing Romulan/Klingon storyline. I recently turned level 30, chose the free ship which was the D'Deridex. The last successful mission I had was I just got a shuttle. I'm on the mission now where you have to clear three groups of Elachi, then repair the three stations.

I can clear the first two groups of ships. It is the third with the Elachi Monbosh I am having trouble with. That ship heals incredibly fast. I was barely making a dent in it the first few times I tried the mission. So I went back to New Romulus, used the Exchange, and bought the best rare equipment for the D'Deridex that I could afford. I can now get the Monbosh down to like 20 or 30% but then I blow up. When I head back as quick as I can, the ship is already fully healed.

I have defensive mode on. Like I said, I have bought the best stuff I could afford. Am I supposed to be doing this mission with the shuttle I just got instead of the D'Deridex? Should I have paid and got a different ship than the D'Deridex? The two problems as I see it are, turning is slow in the D'Deridex, and the Monbosh is healing almost faster than I can damage it.

Any advice would be much welcomed.

What type of equipment are you using? Given the double Ds famous immobility - beam arrays should be the majority, since you'll be broad-siding. Are you maxing weapons power?

Also, the Monbosh in that part of that mission spawns both support craft. This is definitely a case where you want to take out the spawned craft first, since they actually aid the main vessel, rather than just plink a little bit more at you like most spawned pets of enemy NPCs.

Thanks for the advice. I bought the best quality weapons I could afford, but they were all only 45 degree or 90 degree arcs. I didn't think about firing arcs, I was used to the fast maneuvable ships from prior levels.
