I bought Star Trek Online when it first came out. I played about 4 months then got bored, and stopped playing (mainly because Klingon side I got lost what to do, and Federation side back then I got to a point where I didn't know where to go to progress).
I decided to give it a try again, and have been pleased with the story, etc. I am only level 19 with a TOS captain though. However, I have looked over the various T6 ships, and the ones that really interest me are the Breen ones. Those episodes of DS9 I loved.
So here is my question. If I actually buy Phoenix packs, will I be able to get an epic token that I just won't be able to redeem until I hit 60? Or will it only scale rewards to what I can use currently? Also, the sale of these boxes ends tomorrow, will I still be able to redeem the tokens? (If the answer is yes, you might say obviously. But I have to ask. Star Trek Timelines, if you purchase event packs, if you don't open them the week of the event, then they disappear on you. So before I purchased anything, I want to make sure I would be able to get the reward I was looking for and they won't just disappear Friday on me).

Thank you. It does seem quicker. But my question still remains.
My maximum captain is only level 19. The Phoenix box sale ends tomorrow. If I purchase Phoenix boxes, with only being level 19, will I even be eligible for an Epic token? And if I am, can I save the token until I turn level 40 or 50 when the prizes will be marked as usable?
I don't want to spend money in the morning on something that would never be able to give me what I am looking for, or something that has a limited time of use.
First, if you're not sure about eligibility for receiving an epic token from a Phoenix Box, you can get some boxes and just sit on them unopened until you're max level. They'll never disappear from your inventory, and the tokens themselves will always be good, even after the event has passed.
Second, the chances of receiving an epic token are phenomenally low. So chances are you're going to feel like you've wasted your time and resources on this no matter what. Though that being said, the Phoenix upgrades you can buy with uncommon tokens are probably the best prizes in the pack.
Third, there will probably be a new Breen ship this coming winter. Speculation is that it'll be a T6 version of the raider from a few years ago. So even if you don't get an epic token, you'll still have a chance to fly around and Breen it up.
Prize packs can be opened at any time. Tokens can be redeemed at any time. I buy the packs to get the Phoenix Upgrade Kits. Gear can now be upgraded to epic quality and Mk XIV. Do some research on how to upgrade before actually attempting to do so. A very quick and dirty guide is as follows:
- Only use Superior Upgrade Kits to get the most Tech Points for the refined dilithium it will cost you to apply these kits.
- Different types of gear requires different types of kits. Beam for beam weapons and tactical consoles. Cannon for cannon weapons and tactical consoles. Ground for all armor and hand held weapons. Etc.
- Upgrade kits can be crafted (if you have the materials and appropriate crafting school level)
- Kits can be purchased from the Exchange. For example search for Superior Beam, Superior Cannon, Superior Ground, etc.
- Superior Kits gives 12,800 Tech Points and costs 1,075 refined Dil to apply.
- Use accelerators to get extra Tech Points or improve chance of quality improvement.
- Tech Boosts increase Tech Points from upgrade kits by 1.5x or 2x. Do a search for "1.5x t" or "2x t".
- Quality Boosts increases the chance to improve quality when upgrading by either 1.5x or 2x. Do a search for "1.5x q" or "2x q".
- The higher the Mk level the lower percentage of a possible quality upgrade.
- The higher the quality level the lower percentage of a possible quality upgrade.
Here's a video about upgrading.

This isn't a great welcome back as far as customer service goes...
Though after getting a few things I wanted I just downgraded most of my tokens to uncommon and got the upgrades on a toon who needed some upgrading done and I'm glad I did.
Rest of the tokens I received were Very rare or lower.
The odds are worse then for obtaining a Lockbox ship ! (If you can believe it).
I guess this whole thing was meant as a Dilithium sink primarily, IE; the super low drop rates for Ultra and Epic tokens.
And if your heart is set on an Epic token... be prepared to fork over multiple MILLIONS of REFINED dil to get even 1 ultra or Epic token, and even then ... nothing is guaranteed.
my odds so far... 1 UR out of 1600 boxes...
Let that sink in before you throw all your precious dil away.
No breen ship is worth that much.
In the mean time just enjoy the game with what you have and do a bit of Dil grinding to build up your stockpile of Dil. You'll need that for upgrades anyway. Think of it this way, if you grind and refined 40,000 Dil per week that means on a weekly basis you can save up enough Dil to buy 10 Phoenix Prize Packs the next time the event returns (around Christmas would be nice).
I know. This has veered off topic. But still to me, it is a very weird business model to apply to new customers in a free to play game...
Bug ship... if you ever get a dominion carrier, you cant buy frigate pets without a bug ship.
The epic are nifty even if you have all the ships, since you can convert them into 2 x UR. If you had an epic you wouldn't have to choose -- "why not both?"
2. Bulwark has a console, the T5 bugship does not
3. If you actually want a bugship, the T6 is better
OP, this latest Phoenix promo is the third one we've had since the Phoenix Box was introduced back in December 2016. I wouldn't be surprised to see it make a return again this winter. Keep on the lookout and your Zen ready.

Sorry to hear about the freeze. I got something similar for buying the LTS. But you have $100 sitting in the account. You could buy keys and sell them to get another ship from the exchange. Or go three way and open boxes for lobi. with luck buy a lobi ship you can sell for even more on the exchange to afford something else you might like.
Or do as Baddmoonrizin said and hold onto it. What has happened before shall happen again.
