Need a sciencey ship with command seating

autumnwind34autumnwind34 Member Posts: 29 Arc User
Right now I am running a Fleet Guramba Siege Destroyer[T6] as a quantum torpedo boat, but it leaves much to be desired in the science department. My current build consists of the Honor guard 3 piece, Krenim Temporal manipulation 3 piece, Obfuscated strategist 3 piece. I have the two omni Tetri beams and the mine in the back. In the front I have the Neutronic Torpedo, Quantum phase Torpedo, Advanced Radiant Quantum amd a standard Quantum Torpedo Launcher[CrtD]2[Dmg][Pen].

I don't neccesarily need an actual science ship, just something with Lt commander sci seating so that I can run Grav well so that I can activate my "checkmate" trait more often. I also need the command seating to run concentrate firepower The ship also needs atleast 10 turn rate.

Any advice would be useful, for example I understand that "mask energy" field from the honor guard 3 piece is useless as my ship has built in cloak, I just don't know what to replace.

I've narrowed it down to a few ships the Sona' command Science seemed perfect, problem is I am on console and am not sure how long I will have to wait. The Xindi-Primate Ateleth dreadnought looks promising as well. I like the Paradox temporal as well, though it only has 8 turn rate. Any ships I may have missed would be appreciated as well as any potential advice on how one runs a torpedo boat without command seating for concentrate firepower

The request was a lot tougher then I thought it would be. Plenty of ships fill most of your requirments, but most don't meet the turn rate requirement. If you could go down to even 9 on the turn rate, you would have quite a few more options. Here is what I was able to find though given the requirements you listed:

First is the Xindi Insectoid Olean Heavy Escort Carrier. It has a 14.5 Turn rate, and a Lt. Commander Science/Command station.

I have one on my Romulan Alt, he doesn't really fly it because well.. Morrigu.. but it's a pretty nice ship and the pets it comes with are awesome. Not sure how much it goes for on console, but on PC it's fairly affordable.

You also have the Elachi Ornash Battlecruiser. It has a Lt. Commander Universal that you can use for your science station. Also has a 10 turn rate and command seating. It's a Lobi ship that should be listed on the exchange as well.

The Jem Hadar Strike Ship also meets your requirements. Probably very expensive though.

There might be a few more, but that was all I was able to find combing through the list of ships and looking at anything with Command and a 10 or better turn rating. Hope it helps.

I'm assuming from the fact that he's currently in a T6 Guramba that he's KDF. :)

Facepalm, I somehow missed this part...

Anyhow, I can elaborate on how "how one runs a torpedo boat without command seating for concentrate firepower".
First of all you can just pick any ship, load it up with torpedoes, slot torpedo powers and fire away. It won't be as efficient as with CF, but can still work wonders with a bit of practice.
Secondly, as for torping you don't need weapon power, many captains (such as myself) have just picked a science vessel, loaded it up with torpedoes and added heavy science abilities to the side.

Aside from the turnrate i would say that if you want LtCmd Sci and command then the Martok Battle cruiser may be just the thing for you. https://sto.gamepedia.com/Martok_Tactical_Battlecruiser_(T6)#Command_Seating

Kudos for using the Guramba though since it is easily one of my favorite ships on the KDF side but i never even considered using a torpedo setup for a vessel with such a powerful energy/drain potential.

While they are from an older generation you may also take a look at the orion flight deck cruisers (marauder & corsair) https://sto.gamepedia.com/Fleet_Corsair_Flight_Deck_Cruiser_Retrofit and Kar'Fi Battle Carrier https://sto.gamepedia.com/Kar'Fi_Battle_Carrier
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Have you tried stacking extra turn rate onto a cruiser: aux to damp and or epte, conductive rcs, rep trait and mk14 engines will get any ship moving pretty well, plus the manueverability stuff from the comp rep. Those pvpers will get any slow poke cruiser zooming around.

I have a Paradox, and it's pretty fun - no temporal seating despite the name, but lets you play with command and intelligence powers.
Fate - protects fools, small children, and ships named Enterprise Will Riker

The paradox is a nice ship and one of the cheaper lobi ships on the exchange, also the elite pets come with HY2

Whatever @tunebreaker says is sound advice. Any sci vessel can work really well as a torp boat. You don't need command seating.

But for your request I'd say the top choice is the Son'a Sci vessel if/when it comes to console. That has everything you want for an exotic/torp hybrid.
Next best is the Hestia, probably THE best torp boat outside of the veteran destroyers. But as you're KDF that's not an option.
