An end to the practice of "here's some ridiculously OP pay-to-win whale cheese" followed later by patch notes "reduced effect XYZ on that P2W cheese that we're pretending wasn't an intentional I-win button," then "here's some NEW, ridiculously OP pay-to-win whale cheese if you've got the $$$".
Wow...wasted 30mins on that post. Ok, super simplified version.
Playable Borg Collective is possible once you realize that the parts of the Collective can operate autonomously.
The player wouldn't be a drone, we would be the ship's Vinculum...essentially an advance ganglia that provides the means of autonomous control of the ship and the drones.
The drones are husks, simply tools, organelles within the organ which is the ship. An organ of the larger Collective organism.
The player wouldn't have a Captain or Bridge Officers. The player would identify visually as the ship in space. One the ground, the player would manage the away team drones as the shipboard vinculum.
For an outside observer, there is essentially nothing a Borg player could or couldn't do in game that wouldn't be and hasn't already been established in canon as a behavioral option.
We need only restrict Collective access to other faction social spaces, perhaps limit chat to only canned text and audio messages.
Missions would be a dynamically update list of taskings for the area. Keep in mind, doing nothing or observing are absolutely acceptable tasks. Aiding a non-Collective is also established canon, though I'd hope the game would minimize those opportunities in game to specific maps.
There would be significant restrictions in customizing, but lets no forget Borg ships were not all uniform, nor were the drones. And all tech and gear in game from other factions would be available for assimilation, even if they only displayed in shades of green.
You can already be a borg if you have a life time sub.
But not part of the Collective...that's a huge difference. Though in the end, I guess it won't be has meaningful in game.....UNLESS!, they allow Collective players to be monster play. Essentially allowing us to fill slots in the PvE Borg hunts, Ker'rat and such.
Public service announcement: cocoajin is my alt, had to recover my old account.

I personally see no reason at all to play a Borg drone. The Collective is an enemy faction of all the other factions (except the Kazon, whom they decided weren't worthy of assimilation). So no, playing a DRONE will probably never happen.
Playing a Liberated drone who isn't just a puppet of the Borg Queen, as has been said, can be done. I have two. A Romulan and a Fed. I personally like my toons to have their own mind and not a hive mind.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
With how dead the queues are, earning enough competitive marks via the main Competitve STF's to unlock the ground costume. Guess its Red Alerts. Been queued for Binary Circuit for an hour and not popped.
Are there any private channels where these matches are formed ?

Hello rubber banding my old friend, time to bounce around the battlezone again, where are all my bug reports going?, out of love with this game I am falling, As Cryptic fail to acknowledge a problem exists, Shakes an angry fist, And from Support all I'm hearing are the sounds of silence.
the Heggie, tork, and Voq all share one other feature-no Tier 5 C-store version exists. The heggie also lacks a Fleet version.
simply put, the devs don't want to do it, so it's not going to happen.
as if that's stopped them before.... no really, they've already made t6 versions of non-z-store ships. Or did you forget the existence of the Negh'tev?
not what I was getting at, mark. the fundamental problem is, they don't want to do it.
mechanically it's one of the easier tasks they could do, and certainly requires less work than doing up a 'cryptic original' from scratch.
but they don't want to... and that's hill that no amount of lobbying is going to overcome.
Agreed. To be honest, I can't help but wonder if there are some ships that they are, for whatever reason, more reluctant to work on.
I tend to think that's been demonstrated. a few of those wind up looking like 'anything buts'.
among those is a tier six Vor'cha, Tier six Vo'Quv, and C-store non-B'rel Bird of prey.
And, of course, the Nova class. Have posted this before, but nonetheless, seems relevant to this thread:
First, Delta Rising. I recall seeing the news that they’d secured Garrett Wang to voice Harry Kim as Captain of the USS Rhode Island. ‘Surely they’ll revamp the Rhode Island under the circumstances’ I thought.
Wrong.
Then there was the Delta Pack. Which, for reasons that still baffle me, favoured the Dauntless – a PRETEND Federation Starship – over the Nova.
Hopes dashed again.
And then, just to add insult to injury, the Admiralty system was introduced to the game, bringing an Epic ‘USS Rhode Island’ card as the reward for completing the Federation campaign. Third time lucky? I was not alone in thinking, at the time, that this might be an indication that a T6 Nova/Rhode Island might be pending C-store release.
Fat chance.
haha, you know why they used the Dauntless. It has a coolness factor. Yes, the Nova was used in Voy too, but it was basically {generic non-hero Fed ship}. Kinda like the dozens of other ships.
Realistically, I think that the Vor'cha and those other things simply aren't at the top of the list. but they're on there somewhere.
