New materials for all ships?

Why aren't we allowed to use new materials on old ships? On my Reliant I have a selection of 10 different materials + 2 fleet versions... and those materials 8 and 8b are really nice looking, I'm so sad when I wanna fly one of my older ships and just find those 5 generic, obsolete materials in ship customization...

i defintely agree with you there or why ships like the dkyr has its base material and an upgraded one (can barely see a difference)
when doug drexler made the surork he made it with an extremly red hull

so id think itd be neat if they implemented some different variation for ships like that..i know the surrok isn't in but it is literally the first vulcan ship we see aside from first contact surveyor.
